Heart of a Hero
Submitted by Sepheria on Tue, 05/21/2013 - 10:28pm
Heart of a Hero
When most children think of the Army they think of red, white, and blue. They think of men and women marching triumphantly through the walls of an enemy, to defeat whatever person is against the US. They think of the USA being the best, with our army strong and forever protecting our county. They are patriotic, and believe that everything is right.
But when I think of the army, I think of a big man sitting at a huge mahogany desk, surrounded by papers which he stamps with red ink. He laughs, and props his feet up and leans back in his giant leather chair and shouts in a heavy voice.
"Whose life shall I ruin next? Whose family shall I tear apart and make suffer for no reason? While I sit here and happily watch them struggle? "

Which Cover?
Submitted by Sepheria on Sun, 05/05/2013 - 7:03pmSo as usual; this fabulous, fine weather day was spent inside. Inside with all the fans on, a pizza, Fullmetal Alchemist/ The Brotherhood, and the lack of imagination. Feeling that I needed to infact do something productive, other than completeing a season of FMS, I found myself sitting infront of an empty word document. Now at 6pm, it is still blank, as is my mind. But if you look to the right you can see an open paint.net. On this to my amazment is a cover. So even if I have not set foot outside this entire weekend, I made a cover for my story. So I did in fact, *cough* Mother *cough* do something productive this weekend. The first of the following is the new one, and the later my other attempt. Neither of which are any good, but i still had fun making them. Hope you like them. IF YOU COULD CHOOSE WHICH WOULD YOU PICK?

One Day Without Shoes!
Submitted by Sepheria on Mon, 04/15/2013 - 10:10amOne Day Without Shoes
What: One Day Without Shoes
Who: Anyone and Everyone
Why: Because
When: TODAY
One Day by Matisyahu, Marching On by One Republic, Wavin’ Flags by K’NAAN. Songs and Shoes. Two things we take for granted. Songs empower us to move, to make changes, to take life ‘one step at a time’. Every day, every day we take these steps whether they be on land or in our minds. And how do we take these? Some may say by following our dreams, others by Don’t Stop Believin’.
But it is even simpler than that.
We take these steps with shoes on our feet. Most of us anyways. Most of us can look around us and see shoes on peoples feet, whether they be sandals, tennis shoes, or even loafers. Asking around you get many answers on what people’s favorite shoes are; DCs, Nike, Converse, etc. Read more »

A bouncing red ball
Submitted by Sepheria on Tue, 04/02/2013 - 5:31pmSometimes
I sit and wonder
I sit in front of a blank page
I hold a pencil in my hand
And wonder.
What is it that makes us writers?
What is it that motivates us?
What is it that gives us ideas?
What is it that makes us constantly think?
Think of what we could use?
What we can gather from the world,
And put into words?
What is it that turns our minds,
From a red ball bouncing in a metal room,
Into a
Brilliant light,
A paradise of tales
A new world full of new people
A place that anyone can be anything?
What is it that makes us different?
What do others do?
Instead of searching the world
For a tale to be told?
What is it that makes them not see the characters
Pounding against the glass door of imagination
Telling you to come and play
To come and get lost in their world?
What happens in that metal room?
When we use the world to come up with new ideas?
I keep sitting here
And looking at the first hundred or so words of my story,
And completely re-writing it to be in a different voice
But I soon realize that there is nothing.
Nothing that may be as perfect as what I have already.
Life is like a story
Forever going
But having to end at some point
To have that last page
but with the story forever held within.

Stone's Fate; Chapter Six
Submitted by Sepheria on Mon, 03/18/2013 - 6:55pmChapter Six
It felt good to know something in the past day, even if it didn’t make any sense. Malco smiled and nodded in appreciation towards Nynph and she smiled.
“So according to the legend, you may in fact be that king and queen,” Malco said, “Many people already believe that you two are the twins of the legend,” I was shocked, how could we be the twins of the legend? They were all crazy, they had to be.
“And how do you expect us to believe this?” I asked standing up, Luke rose and Malco looked defeated. Read more »
Stone's Fate; Chapter Five
Submitted by Sepheria on Sun, 03/17/2013 - 12:07pmChapter Five
It had caught me by surprise. The burning.
I had just started on my way to the training hall, Jason had fed me some silver liquid and then left for me to change. Soon after I had made my way out the hall. It was then that the burning happened.
As I reached the doorway my side suddenly felt as if someone was stabbing it and drawing on it with a piece of burning charcoal. Both of which I had been through on separate occasions. But this was even worse. This was a small piece of hell. Read more »

In time dark rise up,
the king and queen who bear the seal of the house of the heavenly one,
come back.
All I could remember was Susan screaming and then floating away. Jason. The only thing that I wanted was to tear him apart limb by limb. Him. He had sent me all the way around the tribe, making me as lost as possible. Then he had held Susan’s hand at the training hall when I finally found my way. Him. I would tear him apart. Read more »

Chapter Three
Love is a curious thing,
It can create
And it can break.
But we always do in the name of love,
And that is what destroys us.
The knock echoed over and over again. I looked down the hallway, and then I turned my head to face Luke. Read more »

It is not always death that surprises us,

It is the change.
The change that creates new lives,
That creates paths,
That creates hopes.

Chapter one
My first class was Citizenship, so Susan and I got to go visit our friend who we had been helping since we got assigned to helping at the Hob.
Before we headed out I grabbed the wool from the sheep we stole two nights ago, and Susan grabbed the berries that she had found. Walking to the Hob was great but walking through it was sad. People dressed in rags lined the street, most of them old with no job. Susan and I always tried to help them because we knew that one day we could be right among them. Read more »
Wants
Submitted by Sepheria on Thu, 03/14/2013 - 10:25pmI just want to,
just want to go live in a library
and eat the pages
and hide from all who come
and sleep under the carpet in a corner
and live the rest of my life in books
hidden away from everything
and after a while silently pass away.
living the life that the characters live.
I want to crawl under a big rock
hidden from everything
only coming out when the time has turned
and when life can shed its rays of joy upon me
giving me hope
giving me the hope to face the world
and take those first steps towards greatness
to find that path to victory
I want to walk
walk into the shadows
let them swallow me up
and let them take that pain
let them find a way to transform this into another
another memory
one with less of pain.
I want this to end
but there is nothing that we can do
when pain and suffer swallows us up
instead we find it easier to leave it behind
to move on in the world Read more »
Fading Time
Submitted by Sepheria on Fri, 03/08/2013 - 10:44pmLaughter filled the air around me. Looking up from my book I could see the children running around the sprinklers. Memories stabbed my heart and a lump gathered in my throat. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I could smell rain coming. Underneath it was the scent of freshly cut grass, water, and a mud. Images began to flash through my mind. Read more »
Hecate the Greek Goddess/Titan
Submitted by Sepheria on Thu, 03/07/2013 - 6:56pm
Ηεγατε
“Hecate of hell,
Mighty to shatter every stubborn thing.
Hark! Hark! Her hounds are baying through the town.
Where three roads meet, there she is standing.”
(Edith Hamilton, Mythology, page 32)
Hecate or Hekate [Heah-KAH-tae], a Greek Titan/Goddess of the underworld, cross paths, and spells is considered dark, mysterious, and cruel but behind those three faces lays another kind, pitiful, and wise side that has been forgotten. This paper will illustrate Hecate’s role, relations, appearance, myths, facts of her life, how she is involved in things other than mythology, her attributes, and her symbols. Hecate’s role is mainly portrayed as a dark and sinister position, this goes as well for her attributes and her appearance. She is little known in some myths but has had influence over events. Hecate is also found outside of Greek mythology most of the time captured for her darker side and her role. And finally Hecate is easily given certain symbols to capture everything that is important to her or signifies her in the view of the Ancient Greeks. Read more »

The greatest mountain on earth has not been discovered.
Yet we face it every day.

Wings of Stories, Chapter Three
Submitted by Sepheria on Sun, 03/03/2013 - 2:39pmChapter Three:
Scavengers. The bottom of society. Hey but if you were running from the patrol, you would do anything you could too. Since Gran had died the patrol was trying to catch me. I was supposed to go to the ‘orphanage’ to be cared for until I was eighteen. More like the mental hospital. Any child who came out was like a robot, following the rules and living to work.
Instead I was a fifteen year old on the run. A fifteen year old who, out of the thousands of others who lived alone, with friends, or with other siblings, was lucky enough to be offered a job. So in return for scavenging for whatever the Leader wanted I got paid pretty well, enough money for food, utilities, and saving for flying and the Academy.
Yes, even a guardian less teenaged girl has dreams. Big frakin surprise, right? The only way that I can see now to get out of being a scavenger all my life is to go to the Academy. The Academy would tell me what my purpose is and what job I would go into. The Academy was everything for those who had nothing. It was what separated us from the others. Basically you go to the Academy from sixteen to twenty and you would come out on top. So far I had more than enough to go, but I had other competition. Others who needed to go, and the Academy only took so many each year. But I would do everything I could to get in. Read more »

Chapter Two:
My breath escaped floating up as I fell.
“WHOO-HOO!” I shouted as the wind screamed past my face. I had about another twenty seconds before I would need to open my wings, but for now I could just enjoy the speed and excitement.
“This is frakin awesome!” Zerzo yelled bellow me his short black hair whipping back. We both cracked up and my sides soon began to hurt from the lack of oxygen and laughing. Hey the first part wasn’t my entire fault. I mean where you are speeding towards the ground its sort of hard to catch any air at all. Branches snapped at me, but each time I just titled my shoulders steering to avoid hitting the trees. The purple trees were going so fast now that if I hit one it would be instant death, and I could barely keep myself from flipping. Read more »

Wings of Stories
Submitted by Sepheria on Thu, 02/28/2013 - 9:10am
Chapter one
Slowly I sat up, listening for the slight buzz in the air again. The rough bark of the pine gently scraped my knees and sap stuck to my hands as I grabbed a branch to lean further out. Slowly I pulled myself through the bush like gatherings of pine needles that had only seconds before hidden me from the naked eye.
The branch was still thick enough for me to walk on by the time I got halfway out and I gently situated myself and slowly sat down. I still had a little to go but it was better to be safe than sorry. With my feet hanging over the edge I began the long process of taking off my Geckx suit. It was a lightweight outfit that people started to work on quite a while ago. Of course now we have improved it a ton. It now allows not only for you to climb on virtually anything but the newer versions can even adapt to your surroundings for the ability to become almost invisible even to an infra-goggles.
I sighed as I took off mine. It unfortunately could not do that. All of my equipment is used. New stuff would cost so much it’s not even funny. I was stuck with an older version of Geckx and a pair of night infra-goggles. Of course I did have some good stuff. Read more »
The P.S.E (parallel synesthesia experiment)
Submitted by Sepheria on Wed, 02/27/2013 - 7:17pmSo this is a role-play that a couple of friends and I began on Facebook. Not really sure if we are going to continue, may ask them if I can just have it……. Would anyone be interested in joining if they say yes?
Noah
Where in colors wage a war inside my head, and I spin a tale regarding my hatred for doctors and the discovery that I’m half-psychic.
It’s not that I’m a sociopath-because, truly, I am not. Every day I say to myself, "The concept of humanity is pretty frackin' beast. Kudos to Krishna." and all that crap. You see, I’m very much a people person, dear reader.
I’m just not a stupid people person. I can’t stand stupid brothers. Stupid mothers. Stupid fathers. And above all, I can’t stand stupid doctors.
And why doctors, you say? Well, I’ll tell you, I say, with this little anecdote.
I’m standing here in some run-down neurological clinic. My head is burning like it’s coated in wasabi and saffron streaks are flying past my eyes, evil little yellow-orange lines that block out the image of my mother. In walks the good doctor. My mother pleads, "Please help him! He’s been screaming all night! There’s something wrong with his head! Is it just a migraine? Those run in the family you know! Is it mad cow? His synesthesia? What is it, doctor?" Read more »
