Dreamers
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Sun, 09/23/2012 - 1:47am
May the moon ever shine on for you
And may you always be looked after favorably
Securely in your house I hope you are
I hold you safely in my heart
Memories of you forever etched not just in my brain
But upon my soul like footprints
Under lock and key I keep a part of you
That I stole on a day way back Read more »
Soaring Prices
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Fri, 02/24/2012 - 11:55amGas prices soar
Up, up, up
Will they ever stop rising?
We are foolish to depend on gas
Cars, trucks, busses run on it
Yet with a terrible economy
And a mess in Iran
We can't afford to depend on gas anymore
With all the intelligence in the world
I'm surprised we haven't found an alternative fuel source
Because THAT is what we need to focus on
Before people aren't able to afford to drive
And no more money is left in the house
Let's make an effort
An effort to find alternative fuel sources
Not in a few decades
NOW
Addicting
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Fri, 06/17/2011 - 6:02pmI sit at the computer staring fixedly at my Facebook
Oh how captivated we are with technology
But is it always such a good thing?
I feel like I'm getting sucked into using the computer all of the time
I don't WANT to spend my time on here
But I can't pull myself out of the hole
The hole I dug myself
I'm not sure that having a life online is good at all
Because is it even a life?
Saying things we'd never say in person
But I feel pushed to use the internet Read more »
I didn't do it
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Wed, 01/12/2011 - 1:20pmI didn't kill her. Honestly I didn't. But know one believes me, not a single soul. It all started when I was taking my walk at night. I saw a little girl outside on the side of the road at night. She looked half dead and so I went over to see her. She had bruises and scrapes all over. I could hear her breathing just barely. I knew that I would have to help her that instant. I pulled of my scarf and started to rip it into shreds. In the distance I heard police sirens. They came quickly toward us. I felt a sense of joy that there was help coming for the little girl. Read more »
The Way You Treat Me
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Mon, 11/01/2010 - 7:53pmThe world spins out of control. Anger builds up inside me like a volcano and it takes incredible will power to hold it in. How can someone blame you for all of their troubles? Bam bam bam insults hit like bullets and I get more upset as each one hits. I don't have a bullet proof shield, althought that's what you think. You make up more excuses about how I am the one who spoils everything and starts "drama." Yea right I start drama! You little hypocritical brat take your insults somewhere else. All I get is your nonsense swearing and out of control yelling. Read more »
Flying Through the Water
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Mon, 05/10/2010 - 7:51pmA three hour swim workout
Sounds awful, right?
Wait and see
I'll be sore and aching
Hurting
But water feels so gentle at the same time
It slips out from under me
When I flip, bubbles trail behind me
Like Fairies dancing behind their queen
The laps are endless
Intervals add a challenge
I push off the wall
Kicking slowly, then faster
Pushing my chest forward and hips up
Flying through the water
Like a butterfly
Smashing into the wall and leaving just as fast
Gracefully flying faster
Until my lungs feel ready to burst
And my whole body kills
I move so fast on that last lap Read more »
HIM
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Thu, 05/06/2010 - 8:29pmThat kid who bugs me
Like a mosquito bite that won't stop itching
He's mean, just plain mean
When I was his partner I wanted to scream and kick
Once I got so upset I was on the verge of tears
I pretended to ignore him
He growled at me, I was shocked
What did I ever do?
I was confused and angry
I tried to hide inside my coat
Waiting for the next torrent of mean words
I cringed when he started talking
Talking like he was the King
And I was just some dumb person who was simply there
I certainly thought I counted
Apparently not to him
I felt hate bubble up in me like a pot Read more »
Dreamland
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Tue, 05/04/2010 - 7:40pmA world with air pure and fresh, not filled with smog, like ours. A place so beautiful the grass is a perfect green and everything is edible. The grass is delicious, pull a hand full out and it's a perfect little snack! Yum, the trees taste like a delicious frothy chocolate and the tulip flowers have a special caramel taste. Each flower has a different, exotic, simply wonderful taste. The creatures in this world are interesting too. I have talked to them and we've had a conversation. They are so polite and peaceful. No wars exist here. Read more »
Pouring Rain
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Tue, 04/27/2010 - 10:56amRain drenches me to the skin
It feels like a shower
And it is refreshing
It turns my skin cold
Purifying me
It feels oh so good
I slosh through puddles because it is night
The water soaks my clothes making it like weights
I run in the rain
Then I stop and raise my arms to the rain
And open my mouth and let the pouring water gush into it
I keep running and let the rain fall on me in buckets
It makes me feel free, free as a bird
Running Adventures
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Thu, 04/22/2010 - 6:30pmI run faster and faster. No, I'm not running away from anything or anyone. I'm running for the real pleasure and something else. Searching in each direction, my heart pulls me towards the mountains. What am I looking for exactly? I may never know the answer to that. My heart thumps in my chest as thoughts run through my mind. I've always dreamed I'd be doing this, running as fast as I can into the woods. Read more »
My Favorite Poet
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Sun, 04/18/2010 - 9:33pmThe best poet of all time.
At night read his poems of trees to make dreaming easier.
In the morning chose a fun one, whatever you wish.
At mid day pick a meaningful one to ponder.
Challenge to find the deeper meaning of each poem.
The poems draw me inside myself and into other worlds.
Worlds of trees and nature.
I would like to take the old collections and read them at sunset.
Or how about dawn?
All under a birch tree.
Because of him my love of birches has increased.
My mind opens and falls into the nature world.
Where everything can be seen differently. Read more »
Their Small Farm
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Sun, 04/18/2010 - 7:12pmWe tried to train the pigs at her farm
In the old barn we built our club
In the new one we ran from each animal and back again
We ate some pancakes with their tasty family made syrup
And drank delicious apple cider made from their own trees too
Running like crazy in the fields
While the cows mooed at us
Watching a white tailed deer gallop down the hill
Hearing Mr. Egg, the laying hen make those odd chicken noises
I don't know why we named him Mr. Egg, it should of been Mrs. Egg
But we were silly and fooling around in the coop Read more »
The Stream
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Mon, 04/05/2010 - 8:16pmThe Stream
Trickling water becomes a rush
Tumbling down rocks
Washing over sticks
My toes tingle from the ice coldness
Very refreshing
Over time my feet become red and numb
I love to stop the water
Piling up sticks, stones, weeds, and mud
To make a stopper of water
But water is truly unstoppable
And it seeps through the cracks
Secretly
Slipping away
And rushing to the other side
Rock Heart
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Thu, 03/25/2010 - 7:27pmI reach into my velvety, soft, pants pocket. I shove my hand farther, searching for my phone. My pockets are deep and usually not full of anything. Only the most important items are reserved for my pockets. Deeper and deeper my hands go. Finally my hands come across a smooth, firm surface. It couldn’t be my phone I decide as I run my hands across it. As my hands trace the outline of the object a flood of understanding washes over me. No doubt about what it, it’s a heart. Read more »
Banana Nightmare
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Mon, 03/08/2010 - 8:20pmI moved as far away from them as I could. The awful, rancid smell of the bananas sent my stomach reeling. I couldn't even eat the peaches that sat next to them. The appalling smell and sight of them made me close my eyes. As I walked out the door, I glanced back. What I saw almost made me scream. The bananas had jumped off the table and had eyes, ears, noses, and mouths. I turned and ran. Then I heard a high pitched angry voice.

Your Ignorance
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Thu, 03/04/2010 - 3:07pmDangerous
Like walking on an old wooden bridge
Not knowing any better
Cutting people into pieces, tearing them up
Your happy, we're not
All we want is for you to be nice and realize us
Give us a chance, not a second thought
I want an apology, I'm sure others do too
I never wanted to fight
Always picking on the weaklings
It's like you rolled over us with a bulldozer and covered us up
Animated smiling, giggling, pointing
It's like you wear a mask to hide yourself
You should be proud of who you are
Be normal, average and real, give it a chance
No care for work or others Read more »
To My Dear and Loving Friend
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Fri, 02/12/2010 - 10:20amI miss the times when we frolicked in the woods
I yearn for you so much, I am going to call you, I should
Your wonderful family and playful dogs
Remember when we tried to train the hogs?
So much land and lot’s of fields
Up at your house no cars yield
For wayout in the country no one is near
We can shout and play as much as we want, nobody hears
It’s solitary but beautiful, I too wish to live there
Tears
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Thu, 02/11/2010 - 9:05pmThe little boy
His tear streaked face makes me think
How much I want to cry about everything
If I was five I could cry about anything
Like the little boy on the way to school
But "big girls" like me can't cry
No we must leave sobbing to five year olds
Sometimes though, I cry inside myself
Or lie awake at night sobbing quietly
In the pool, when I swim I sometimes cry, fogging up my goggles
If I keep it in for too long I break down
Throw things or inside I tear myself up
When I think about my desperate friend, tears well up in my eyes Read more »
Night View
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Sat, 02/06/2010 - 9:21amStars glitter in the sky
The moon peeks out from behind the clouds
Come out moon, don't be shy
A veil of white mist hangs low in the sky
The stars wink at me from above
For the first time, I realize I'm shivering
Time to go inside
I love the sky, the moon, the stars
When I go to bed, I'll dream of the sky
My Favorite Vacation
Submitted by SwimmerKA on Sat, 02/06/2010 - 9:20amI love all the forms of water. Rivers, streams lakes, ponds, pools, seas, oceans, you name them. The ocean is one of my favorite forms of water for many reasons. First off, the ocean is a great place to play and have adventures. The waves are great to play in and the beach is filled with interesting things. Plant and animal life is in the ocean and on the beach. So many mysterious and intriguing things live in and around the ocean. Also it's a thing to be feared. Sharks and brewing hurricanes are some of the dangers in the ocean. Read more »
