YWP's annual Celebration of Writing was a smashing success! Fabulous workshops, story/keynote by M.T. Anderson. Nine powerful readers. 75+ (including adults) enjoyed and worked hard in the workshops. 125+ at Celebration.
Here were the details:
Workshops in Digital Storytelling, Poetry and Prose. The workshops fill up early and are first-come, first-served, so don't delay.
9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. DIGITAL STORYTELLING with Barbara Ganley and Bryan Alexander, two nationally known digital storytellers and digital educators. Limited spaces. MUST PRE-REGISTER.
10 a.m. BREAK the ice
10:30 a.m. Poetry: Reuben Jackson on finding images and the musicality of poetry
Prose: Sarah Stewart Taylor on finding ideas for stories, characters and scenes
Noon: Lunch provided by Young Writers Project (or bring your own) Donations heartily welcome.
1 p.m. Poetry: Kerrin McCadden on turning that angsty poem into a gem
Prose: Jo Knowles on tricks to make your work better -- on revision
2:30 p.m. Poetry: Geof Hewitt on performance poetry
Prose: Robin Fawcett on performance storytelling
2:30 p.m. Adult Workshop -- Peter Biello helps parents and other straggler adults find the fun in writing.
4 p.m. The Celebration, words from Tom Greene of Vermont College of Fine Arts, keynote by National Book Award author M.T. (Tobin) Anderson and eight chosen students will read their works featured in Anthology 5. YWP movie presented.
5 p.m. Reception and official release of Anthology 5.
