Mentors Biographies

Hi mentors,
Use this space to create a bio of yourself for the community to see. Might be something like this:
My username is ggevalt and I am director of Young Writers Project. For 33 I was a journalist, mostly in newspapers, in Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York City, Ohio and Vermont. I was fortunate to work with some superb journalists and our work won many awards. For two years, I was a juror for the Pulitzer Prizes. I started YWP in 2003 with a group of teachers as a weekly newspaper series highlighting student work and ideas for better instruction of writing. In 2006, I left journalism and started this project, now working with an estimated 10,000 students a year. I still love to write.

Hi mshamilton,
I saw you are the only mentor listed under the bios. Sadly more have not added their own. Well i was wondering if you could possibly look at my work and give me pointers and or advice. But only if you have time, because according to your bio you are quite a busy person. So when you are bored or need something to do feel free to check out my work. Thank you very much! -Megan

A University of Vermont College Mentor :)
Hi :]
Hi everyone
I'm a sophomore at the University of Vermont, majoring in Anthropology with a minor in Biology. When I was in high school, I went to magnet school for the arts where I studied creative writing. While I'm not studying it formally anymore, writing is something I will always love, and I'm looking forward to reading the work of people who feel the same.
Hello Writers! My name
Hello Writers!
My name is Doug and I am a former mentor, current intern for the YWP. I just graduated from UVM with a degree in English and Psychology, and I minored in linguistics--which I loved. I work at the UVM writing center as a tutor, and would say that my true passions are literature and music. I am a sports fan; Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox, Bruins; and I will miss the days I spent playing football for the UVM club team. I dabble in the guitar and the bass guitar, along with the harmonica, but am not very good at any of them. I'll read any type of book I can get my hands on, with favorites ranging from Hemmingway to Dickens to Vonnegut to Moore... all over the place. Enough about me... I look forward to getting to know all of you as well as you now know me.
Thanks! Keep up the writing!

Hi there!
I'm Jaga and might be the odd one out here.
Recently I got in contact with Geoff and he asked me to join YWP.
I am a visual artist and storyteller, and also work as a designer and writer.
While I was born in The Netherlands, I currently live in Berlin, Germany (a city you must visit once if you can).
If you want to see some of my work, Perpetual Fuss is my own website.
Currently most of my storytelling appears on Cowbird, where I am also nicknamed The Story Listener...
Looking forward to see your work and hope I can contribute to YWP.
Jaga.

Do note, I am quite busy with a lot of things, therefore the time I can invest in YWP is limited.
Feel free to send me a message anytime though and I respond as fast as I can.

Hi Jaga,
Hi Jaga,
My name is Lexie. I am in the 8th grade, attending a really small K-8 school, with about 250 kids in it total.
I completely understand being the 'odd one out here. Today, is already shaping up to be one of those days.
But, I wanted to let you know, that we do have one other thing in common. Berlin.
I actually stayed there several years ago for a few weeks. I had so much fun. Most of my time in Germany was in other places though, I spent part of a summer, and a Novermber in Heidleberg. I spent several days in Ktown, and another time in Mannheim, and Liptzig. I have traveled to many other cities and towns throughout Germany over many other trips and visits.
Thank you for joining YWP, and I hope you love it, as much as I do.
Lexie
Hi Lexie,
Thanks, glad to hear I am welcome and great to hear you've been in Berlin.
I lived here for1,5 years now and love the city. Would love to read about your experiences here...
You should thank Geoff for inviting me to YWP! He was the one dragging me in.
As for now I love it and I see a sense of community which I really like. Besides of course I love to read stories and hope I can be of help for the community.

Hello!
My name is Jessica and I am a junior at Essex High School. I used to be quite an active member, also under the name civilized, and I am now pleased to say that I am an intern and mentor for YWP!
I am an avid hockey fan (go Bruins!), a music enthusiast, and poet. I play the guitar (not well) and hope to someday form a Ramones revival band. That's pretty much it.
I'm looking forward to diving back into YWP! Send me a message whenever and I will definitely check out some of your work.
-civ, the shiny new mentor!
