Sky's Diary 3-19-08

By Rebecca White
Hartford Memorial Middle School, Grade 8

Dear Diary,

I HATE FRENCH! It's as if the teacher is speaking a foreign language, no pun intended, even with the simple questions. Such as "Comment ca va" or "J'ai parle francais?" I just can't comprehend it all! It's the reading part that is easy though... I can read it almost perfectly, the flowing vowels and funny commas just click , better then some English words even! It's just the speaking that screws me up.
Today during gym I practically passed out, my legs went like Jello and I felt woozy. As I swayed over to the nurse's office the smell of neosporin and sanitation pads hit me in waves. I sat down on the germ- infested, green plush couch as it wheezed out a pathetic deflating airbag sound. The nurse graciuosly, offered me some saltine crackers and a story about tea parties with her mother. I often find that teachers always love to talk to me about their problems, probably because I'm good at sitting and listening.
Just like Ms.Jenkins serenading me with stories of her grandson's birth, including pictures of his fuzzy little pink head. Including the time Mr.Daniels explained his break up with his girlfriend over a game of chess. Hmmm what a listening day, I wish I could just talk to someone, too.
Love Sky
