These Feet Have Tread a Path

These feet have tread a path
Up a mountain and down a hill
These feet have tread a path
Through the meadow where birds once did trill
These feet have tread a path
By a sweet stream, a landscape truly pleasant to walk by
These feet have tread a path
Under a lush rainforest, it’s canopy covering the sky
These feet have tread a path
Close to war
These feet have tread a path
Oh so very far
These feet have tread a path
Past coal mines where a mountain and a hill once stood
These feet have tread a path
Besides the landfills whose place have taken
That of the meadow whose remembrance and sorrow do I now bid
These feet have tread a path
Next to a dried up stream bed
These feet have tread a path
Next to fire in the rainforest, it’s canopy almost completely dead
These feet now tread a path
Into the ground
Tucked away in a tight box
The grave I now forever rest
Eternal slumber am I bound
For there was nothing I could do.
