lonely shatters

waves of loneliness
lap on a shore of hope
while an empty bottle
conveys the message
a thousand words could not
the empty bottle
shattered
by the harsh waves
crashing up on this beach
a milloin fragments-
i sit in the dark
rocking back and forth
trying to piece everything back together
the broken shards
a puzzle of life-
scattered to the the will of the world
and the tides ever changing
fading in and out
lapsing the quiet span of a year-
-scrambling to find the pieces
reaching out
for a hand that's not there
to pull me from the dark
the oppressing waves of nothingness-
with no sun to count the days with
no light to hide from the dark
only the cold water
and colder thoughts
that threaten to submerge all hope entirely-
until all that's left
is a silenced mind
an empty vessel
rocking in the waves
of their own regret.

    Looming over your shoulders

Each stack higher than its former

    Every thought and every scrap

Of an idea too scared to ponder

    Every moment that hurt

    Each minute that lingered longer

  • Inadequacy

How do I push the words out
    From behind my taffy tongue
    Thick with salty tears
    And full of grubby thumb

    I’m a child
    Pretending that I’m numb
    To escape the overwhelming feelings

    Why

When feet fall soft but quick

    Does the hallway extend

And the hot breath of whoever’s behind me feel hotter

Why do I stay pressed to the wall

    Like a stubborn gruby sticker
