Relocation

Relocation

Last day on earth. Too many things to do, too little time. We get relocated tomorrow morning at 6:00, it's 8:30 am now so I have 21 ½ hours left on Earth. That's not an uplifting thought but I don’t sit around and ponder it because the longer I do the sadder it gets. I decide my first destination will be McDonalds for breakfast, because why not? After I go through the drive through I call a couple of my friends, we decide to meet up and play basketball, something we always loved to do together. There are 6 of us so we run 3 vs. 3’s for a while just enjoying each other's company, because none of us know if we’ll see each other in space or if they'll even have basketball courts. We are all thinking it but none of us say it; this could be our last time seeing each other, so we're making it count. Grudgingly, after a couple of hours all of us decide we should go. We have other things to do and places to visit before time runs out. So after saying goodbye I drive off. I glance at my phone, it reads 11:00 am, 19 hours left.

The next place I go is my grandparents house. I'm sure I'll be able to see them in space but I just wanted to go fishing with my grandfather one more time. So we hook up his boat and drive to the Connecticut River. Once we get the boat in the water we immediately head to one of our favorite spots, a small alcove along the side of the river with big bass. We each have luck and soon I tell him I have to get back. We eat lunch in peace out on the water just like we always have, which makes me smile. Once I'm back in my car the clock says 2:30, only 15 ½ hours left on Earth. I head back home and pick up my dad, then we head to the school to play baseball on the fields. We each take turns hitting and pitching. Playing baseball has always been one of my most favorite things in the world. After we finish playing baseball we both decide to go back home. It's getting late, I can feel it. It has been a long day and once I get home I spend the rest of my time on Earth with my family, just enjoying their company.

Just a normal Friday, I’ve spent my entire day here, at my house, because of covid-19, I can only go to school two days a week. I hate it, every part of it, I wish it could just be normal.

An utter mess, so undeniably hectic that if it was my room I have no doubt I would be kicked straight out of my house. As I left school that afternoon that's how I would have described my life.

I'm out on the water, one beautiful afternoon, just enjoying myself and my own thoughts, pondering whatever comes to mind. Ideas float by like cattail fluffs drifting along with the current of the tide.
