Just A Girl, Part 1

Support trans rights and trans people!!

I remember the day you came out.
I'd been suspecting it for a while, actually,
Like when I told you, quietly,
"I'm genderfluid."
Because I trusted you,
And you
Nodded, but you were pensive.
Then, it was lunch
And we were sitting in a circle,
And you said,
"I was questioning my gender identity."
So I flat-out asked,
"What's your gender?"
And you paled
And I realized that maybe we were the first people
You were gonna be out to.
See, I put two and two together.
Because before, because then, I wouldn't get mad at people before when they called you handsome
Because I didn't know you were beautiful.
Then, I wouldn't get mad at people when they called you sir
Because I didn't know you were a lady.
Then, I wouldn't get mad at people when they called you a boy
Because I didn't know you were a woman.
But now I know, and I'm so happy for you
Because
You showed how beautiful you are (though you have nothing to prove)
When you looked at me
And said, very quietly,
In your deep voice
That was once masculine but is now feminine
"My pronouns
Are she and her."

    Bandaids for Bad Dreams

I wish there were bandaids for all the cuts on my arm,
but there’s no bandaids, because I can’t tell anybody
    that I’m bleeding.

I wish there were bandaids for all my scars,

    Villain

I tried to say hi to a girl yesterday
Can you tell me why she was so afraid?
    I know I’m fine—not disfigured or two-faced
I promise you guys that I’m perfectly sane.
My teachers don’t seem to think I’m all there
  • Enough

    Isn’t it enough?

    Isn’t it enough for you
That there have been 102 mass shootings
    In the past year?

    Isn’t it enough for you
That most of them have been hate crimes
    And have gone unpunished?
