Give feedback!

Each day we have new writing -- and new selections on the front page. An important part of this project is to give each other positive, constructive feedback. So add your comments to the writing. Read as a writer. Help out your fellow young writer!

It's really raw... but I need to get back to posting again because I miss it. I've been really-super-busy (and honestly kind of lazy) so I haven't written much in the last month. I'm hoping my excessive reading balances it out... comments are much appreciated.

This is meant to be slammed:

striding through the candy aisle--the
gas station is bathed in
illumination
almost
erotically and
a woman: she
dances brightly
before my eyes; she dangles
from a single thread of
my imagination:

smiling and striding in
step to a secret song she slides
by and listens to the deep
pounding of her
own
heart
beat, vibrations, as she moves
down the aisle bursting

with an array of sweetened
sugar and
chocolate designed just for
lovers-- you know the kind. (who
cling tightly to the other's
fingers at night in
the city park; they've just
finished an ice
cream
cone and the sleepers
on maple benches eye them
warily.)

the boy behind the
checkout counter is trying to grow facial hair,
and he's busy with
himself in the
back, too busy to notice
a woman (almost
clear) glide to a

stop

in front of him.

she is humming and
tapping--smiling-- with
arms for of sweet and
watered down emotion;
he is staring empty at the
the mirror; she is a
blooming child with rosy cheeks
and almond eyes and; he's watching
her
(behind him)
and wary. the
woman laughs and
when she laughs she sings

and other midnight customers glance up
with mild early-morning eyes but
she
is already leaving; chocolate
litters the boy's feet
as he shuffles to the
checkout
and stares at her gliding
out of the store, forgetting me

in the candy aisle.

I can't decide if I like it

I can't decide if I like it or hate it and I realize this probably needs editing. I'm considering how it might sound with music.

Although I do know that I despise the title. I just picked it because I had no better ideas and it was the first the popped into my head. So the title will get reworked also.

But I need to sleep first, so maybe tomorrow...

I like it! It is freely

I like it!
It is freely meandering, with a musical quality- this would be a fantastic podcast!
That woman has me intrigued! What an interesting character!

:)

I would love to hear this in podcast.
As tony would say:
Now that was a poem. :)

Thank you guys! Once I figure

Thank you guys! Once I figure out how to actually do a podcast...

And imagine: Speaking of Tony! Obscure is at GIA this weekend and has been emailing me. Obscure made a friend who was mentioned a few times before somehow they made the connection that said friend was in our workshop with Tony at YVWC! I found it amusing, but I can't remember what she looked like either.

^^ And I just spouted all

^^ And I just spouted all that because you happened to bring up Tony about a millisecond after I read the email.

Wow!

Wow!
I miss Tony. I wish I could have taken his creative writing class! (For free, too! Ah, well.) And I miss Obscure too... any idea when she's coming back?

I wanted to take his class

I wanted to take his class too. But it's too far away and I'm WAY too busy in the fall.

Obscure should actually be back this Sunday. And I'm leaving on Saturday... :P

MM, I just read this through

MM,
I just read this through about 3 times to get the full effect. I love how it's like talking, but still poem-like.

Podcast it!
