To Help

this decision is mine and mine own
some may not like it
but in the end, what do their opinions matter?

brush their words off, with the back of my hand
like leaves fading from a branch
dead by the time they hit the ground

a quick smile is the only thing i need to keep going
the knowledge that what i'm doing is right
knowing i'll affect those i do not see

they're hurting, they're hurting
i can make it end
soft, caring words

some they have never heard before
the delicate touch, light as a feather
of just someone saying they care.

even if it's only just listening
to problems they think are petty
we all know how much it really is.

    i go outside.
i see the masks, worn properly or not.
