My Most Hated Best Friend

Karsenw8's picture

She's Ruining my life
But I'll never love anyone like this
She was my Best Friend
Tight as can be
ages zero to three
But I hit a day
at this age thirteen
I Hate Her
and she'll Always Love Me
I can't escape this woman
because she made me
She'll never again be my best friend
but that isn't her job
she is her to teach me
and one day I'll see
When I have a daughter
that Passionately Dislikes Me

Your poem

Oh, man! The tension just POPS in your poem! Very powerful, very moving. But also very crafted and under control.

You make me a little nervous because I have two daughters who will undoubtedly clash with their mother and me. I know it's coming, but still. I hope they are able to see, as you seem to, that parents aren't put on earth to torment their kids, even though we do sometimes.

Thanks for letting me read and comment!

Karsen: Your poem is so

Karsen:

Your poem is so interesting! I completely relate to how a daughter can feel like she hates her mother. I like the comment at the end that you will someday understand what your mother is going through. Great poem!
