There's No I in Team

It was the day of the relay race, and Lucia was pacing her room with worry. She was extremely fast, so that wasn't what she was worried about.
She was worried about her teammate, Charlotte, who was extremely slow. Lucia’s team was going against Justin’s team. Lucia had to come up with a plan. She would not let Charlotte ruin this for her. Not one bit.
At the race Lucia ran passed Amber.

“Whoa, Lucia! Watch out!”

“Sorry” Lucia responded. “Late, late, so late.”

She finally got there and started to run. She got to Charlotte, and hesitated. Then she ran passed.

“Lucia? Lucia!”

As she ran, her teammates angry cries drowned into the crowd’s cheers. She looked next to her. There Noah, was snickering at her.

“What happened to your team, Lucia? Did they realize there was no hope?”

Before she could come up with a comeback, Noah passed his stick to Justin.

By the end of the race, Lucia was the only one who had touched the baton, but they still didn’t win!

Not only that, but Lucia’s team didn't even come high-five her. Then, Lucia realized her mistake.
There was no I in team. Lucia had to apologize.
She walked up to Charlotte, Amber, Margaret, and Emma.

“What gives, Luce?” asked an angry Emma.

“Yeah!” complained Margret.

“I’m sorry, guys. It's just…”

“You thought you were faster than us, so when it came time, you just kept it, and now you realize your mistake, so you want to say sorry and take us out for pizza,” said Charlotte, breathing heavily.
She may be slow, but she sure is smart.

“Yeah,” Lucia said.

“We accept,” said  Amber.
And so, Lucia made it up to her friends and learned, there was no I in Team.
