Winter & Her Long Reign

When the Summer dies,

Fall begins to descend,

onto the beloved land.

With no words, and no ties-

Winter sinks its teeth into the sand.

Leaving nothing to mend.

Deep into the cruel season,

love leaves without reason.

Winter’s heart of ghastly ice-

leaves us scrambling like mice.

Spring will not come for us soon,

it’ll wait five, treacherous full moons,

before dancing with the winter wind.

Sweeping up the scintillating snow.

Then Spring will abruptly leave us,

we’ll, once again, be left with Winter,

and her heart of ruthless ice.

Though, we’ll no longer be scrambling mice.
