The cat's true wishes

Ally the cat was walking around content with her life, humans all to willing to scratch her back or cuddle her. How to avoid them you ask? Show the butt. To face ones butt towards the lowly humans, one asserts dominance and shows control in the relationship. Except there was a problem. The one time that Ally truly needed the humans though, they weren't there. The nerve! She was willing to cuddle them to get scratched and they had left the house. So Ally went on an expedition to find the perfect object to rub against. She used to have a vase that hit her back perfectly, but then one day she got bored. Let's just say that the fireplace was a lot higher than Ally thought. Check in the bedroom. Nothing. Bathroom. No, the toothbrushes weren't out today. Ally almost gave up hope, but then she saw a gleam out of the corner of her eye. Sitting perfectly on the windowsill, a nice lamp! Walking slow as to not look to excited incase the humans somehow were watching her, she made her way lazily to the lamp. That hit the spot! But wait. What is that rattling? Ally springs up as a strange cloudy figure shoots out of the lamp. The humans had caught her!

"I will grant you three wishes, no bringing back to life, no love potions..."

“Why would anyone need a love potion?" Ally thought quietly to herself. She didn't know what to do, the weird cloud hung expectantly. She wanted to make her wishes to the weird apparition but she had to make them good. "Wish one. I would like 100 vases that I knock over when I feel like it."

"Done." Said the deep voice. "Every time you knock over the vase, a new one will appear.”

"Wish two. Everytime the humans have their lightboxes open, I can lie on it. BUT! Make the humans powerless, they can't push me off or move me."

"You mean laptops? And yeah, I kind of have to grant your wishes."

Now Ally had wished for two things she had wanted her whole life. What could she do now, looking at the cloud she didn't think it could go anywhere. So she turned tail and went to sleep in the sock drawer until it came to her. Settling down, she stretched and rolled until she looked broken and felt great. But just as she closed her eyes it came to her.

"I know it!" Running back as fast as she could she yells "I want to catch that little red dot."

"Done." And with that the cloud vanished back into the lamp.

"You've done it now you sly cat" Ally thinks to herself as she finally nestles into the socks.

Welcome Margaret! So glad to see you on here! I loved this story, it was creative to have the cat making the wishes, and « très drôle »! One suggestion: I’d love to see some more character development as description of the genie; what does it look like? Is it humanoid, feline, or something else? The genie’s opening lines reminded me of the one in Aladin, though those restrictions are hopefully universal:)
Anyway, thanks for making me laugh!

You need to understand, if I had described the genie too much it would have made it seem like Ally cared. She has to keep up her facade of not giving a s***
