All she could do was run. She couldn’t even think. A mixture of sweat and salty tears gushed down her face. She was gasping and could barely breathe. Finally after about ten minutes she reached the dock. She hadn’t deliberately been heading there but that is where she had ended up. Ordinarily she couldn’t bear to look at the dock but today she halted there. She felt an urge to keep running but she felt like there was something calling her and she needed to stay. She stood at the beginning of the dock for a few minutes then slowly started to walk out towards the end. Towards the middle of the dock she suddenly stood frozen remembering the incident many years ago. She shook her head trying to stop remembering. The memories of screams still echoing in her head she continued walking. She reached the end of the dock and looked out at the glistening water. She was hit abruptly with a burst of silence. She realized that she hadn’t had much silence in a really long time.
