week 25: Meeting Your Idol-Wood

Mission: Federline
By Natasha Wood

“Helllloooo Washington D.C.! It’s 9 o’clock, 63 degrees and you’re listening to SM92. Are you ready to hear this weeks SM92 giveaway? This week is a special contest. Kevin Federline has volunteered one day of his busy and famous life to spend it with one lucky winner. That winner could be you! All you have to do is call in sometime this week with the correct answer to this question: Several years ago Kevin Federline refused, when asked, the lead role of what now famous movie? The number to call is …”
“Ohmygawd,” President Bush screeched, thinking, to himself, how much fun a day with Kevin Federline would be. “I have to win that contest!”
President Bush only had a week to figure out the answer to this puzzling question, not to mention making sure no one else answered it. He knew it was going to be grueling, but it would be worth it. He would finally meet his idol!
Bright and early the next morning President Bush called his two most reliable Secret Service agents into a special meeting.
“Listen,” said President Bush, “I have a very special, and secret mission for you!”
The two smartly dressed men stared attentively at the President -- waiting for their mission.
“I need you two to track down the answer to this question,” President Bush pulled a slightly crumpled paper out of his pocket and handed it to the men.
One of the agents extended his hand to receive the note. After reading the question he looked back at the president, confused.
“You must be very secretive. Kevin Federline and the general public cannot find out how hard I tried to win his contest. Also, I need the answer to this question by the end of the week,” President Bush added.
The secret agents nodded and left to start their mission.
The President next met with the CIA.
“OK, listen up,” the President started, “It’s important that this gets done right. I want you to make sure nobody calls into the station SM92 concerning the Federline package. I give you all permission to tap phones and shut off power if you need to. Do whatever you can!”
Everyone in the room just stared back at President Bush.
“What are you waiting for? Start right away. Now!”

For the next couple of days the President waited for the answer. He began to get anxious; what if his plan did not work? The phone rang and George Bush rushed to answer it. “Hello!”
“Hello Mr. President, we have the answer to the question you requested,” replied a familiar voice.
“Yes, what is it?”
“Uh, sir, it seems Kevin Federline was asked to play the lead role in, um … The Titanic.”
“Are you sure?” President Bush inquired.
“Yes, Mr. President; we are positive.”
President Bush quickly hung up and called SM92. After seven rings someone answered, “Hello, you are on the air with SM92. What is your name?”
“Um, George Bush.”
“Well, mister have you ever been told you have the same name as the president of our country?” the radio announcer asked with muffled giggling in the background.
“Uh, yes, a few times,” replied President Bush nervously.
“OK, George, why are you calling in today?”
“Well I think I have the answer to the Kevin Federline question.”
“Well,” said the radio announcer, “it’s about time someone called in with an answer for that. In fact the only calls we have received since the beginning of the week have been prank calls. The question, folks, is this: Several years ago Kevin Federline refused, when asked, the lead role of what now famous movie?” There was a brief pause. “George, what is your answer?”
“The Titanic?”
“Well, folks, it looks like our first caller in is a … winner! Congratulations, George, you are spending a day with Kevin Federline!”
“OK,” President Bush replied in a faked casual tone.
“All right stay on the line for a minute while we go to commercial, but one more thing. What is your favorite radio station?”
“SM92!” President Bush all but screamed.

The next thing he knew, President Bush was on a plane headed for Hollywood. He tried to stay calm, but he was so excited! When he got off the plane President Bush, Secret Service body guards close behind, headed toward a man with a cardboard sign saying:
George Bush
“Come this way to the limo,” said the man with the sign.
Upon reaching the limousine George Bush spotted Kevin Federline lounging on the black leather. This is so cool, thought the President. On the outside he tried to portray a man calm, cool and collected.
Kevin Federline, unphased by the fact he was going to spend a day with the president, extended his hand to shake President Bush’s. “Hey, what’s up?”
“Uh, not much,” squeaked President Bush. “I really like all your work! Your Super Bowl commercial was inspirational. After I saw it I almost applied for a job there. I love the fact you are trying to lay low. I am sorry about your break-up with Brittany; that must have been sooo hard. It was too bad because I thought you two were going to be together forever.”
President Bush proceeded to chatter on.
They chatted in the limo, at lunch, while touring Hollywood, while clubbing and on the way back to the airport. President Bush wanted to talk and absorb as much as he could because this was the best day of his life -- the day he met his idol!
