Honor the Seniors

ggevalt's picture

HONOR the SENIORS by reading their stuff, giving them comments and generally making them feel like their words are appreciated!

This is a wiki, meaning any of you can edit it. If you are a senior, please add to this document and put in your name (real or username), your plans for next year, ONE thing you liked best about YWP and a link to your blog and/or your favorite piece. (Karlie?...coryann?...amanda?...Royergirl? ... who else is out there?)

Jump in and add your summary (you can insert your avatar, too, if you want) -- Where you're going, what you're planning, what YWP moment stands out and a link to your blog and/or your best piece.

obscure_one: I'm going to Hampshire College in Amherst, MA where I will be creating my own program of study involving many subject areas I'm not sure of yet. The only area I'm positive I will focus on is creative writing. My favorite YWP moment? I suppose it must be the first YWP conference when we all met for the first time. That day will forever be seared into my mind. (By the way... If anyone is better at figuring out this hyperlink thing and knows how to make it so it's just my username as the hyperlink, that would be fantastic!) obscure one's blog

Geist: I'm attending Brown University next year over in Providence, Rhode Island, where I hope to make noise with the indie music and theater scene down there while (hopefully) deciding whether to go for Organic Chemistry or Literary Arts as a major. My YWP moment was realizing I could make music -- I have this site to thank for that. Now, to try and make something halfway decent... Geist's blog.

Kenobi15: I'm probably attending Kenyon College next year in Gambier, Ohio (although I am still wait-listed at several other schools.) Wherever I do go, I'll be studying English with a concentration in creative writing (I know, surprising, right?) My YWP moment would probably be when I first saw my submission in the paper ... by far an awesome moment. My blog is Kenobi15's blog.

Parisiantwyst: I'll be attending Johnson State College, staying close to home in beloved old Vermont. (Oh yes. Taste the sarcasm.) I will be studying both Studio Arts as well as English Literature- in hopes of someday becoming a teacher (in either), as well as writing and illustrating childrens' books of my own. My YWP moment would probably be- well, in all honesty, I can't narrow it down to one day. Perhaps my YWP moment would be the day YWP got me into my dream school (which, sadly, I will not be attending). Paris' blog.

cupcake_sprinkle:I'm a senior as well. I plan to attend Lyndon State College this fall to study Broadcasting and TV Media and minor in Photography. I hail from Lake Region (wayyyy the heck up north) and I really enjoy this site. I'm transfering to England after my first year at Lyndon to study abroad.

Pineapple_babbit Heya! I'm still here!!! college apps and scholarships have taken up forever, but I'm finally in college!!! I'm going to St. Michael's to major in physics. I may even double major to include chemistry. YWP has been an awesome and supportive place to put up writing and have people comment on your writting. Also, its an awesome place to connect with writers our own age. (I'm a bit pressed for time because technically I'm in class making a brochure. ^_^ he he he. *huggles*) I hope to still somehow be a part of YWP when I'm in college. Pineapple's Blog.

lsp: Also from Lake Region! I'll be going to Hallmark Institute of Photography in Turners Falls, Massachusetts this fall. My favorite part of YWP would probably be reading all of the different writers' pieces. There's a lot of diversity on here. Editor's note: lsp's involvement with YWP has been to leave comments and to submit to the newspaper series. A link to her work: lsp's work

I am a little more provocative then you might be,
It's your shock and then your horror on which I feed
So can you tell me what exactly does freedom mean,
If I'm not free to be as twisted as I wanna be

Kiwi, we live near (ish) to you. I mean I'm basically sitting on the Westford border....so if push comes to shove (not that I'm against dragging you around, just it's a little out of the way) then I can give you a ride. If no one closer appears.

EDIT: Actually, I'm still a maybe- probably not.
