“Crystal after Crystal”
Another snowy evening
All alone
I walk down the holiday lit street
Snowflakes swiftly fall out of the sky and onto my shoulder
I try to catch one with my fur mitten;
It melts immediately before I could even cherish its beauty
I tilt my head back and close my eyes
I catch crystal after crystal,
Melting at the tip of my tongue, dripping onto my chapped lips
Soothing my skin,
Making them soft again
Snow slows,
the moon comes out
A pale crescent, shining light
filling the sky with millions of diamonds.
I finally catch one;
but with bare hands
I began to run; too late
It melted leaving a small puddle in my palm,
Leaving me standing in the cold,
Searching for a new one
