Getting There

I am no ordinary soul,
And should I care?
I'm proud of who I am,
What I can do,
And how I'm inspired in every way.

I can be the person that everyone remembers
As the moments pass by,
And as I still climb forward,
Showing everyone that they were wrong
To tell me that I should give up.

I'm the one who's not afraid,
And not staying in the midst.
I'm the girl who promises not to forget,
And the one who yells it out loud when I want too.

Everybody can tell me to back down,
Everybody can tell me to stop what I'm doing,
Everybody can tell me to just quit,
Everybody can call me a freak,
But I will not be kept from where I'm heading.

I will get where I'm running too,
And I will be known.
You and everybody push me down,
Cutting the rope that holds me up,
But I'll always find a string to hang on too.
