Sea of White
& only as
the wind blows them away
do I see
the clouds.
I picked one out
and named it after you
just as it disappeared.
& sometimes
the clouds look like
whisps of foam
in your coffee cup
until your eyes are
almost shut,
because you only really get
that perfect cotton-ball look
when you're squinting.
So hop on that bus
and let it carry you away
like a cloud on the breeze.
Live in the city
and write to your heart's content.
Get that fire back in your veins.
& as I fly above your head,
all I wish
is for you to look up
and take my hand,
for you to fly with me
amidst the clouds.
But you don't look up
until I've
already passed.
So as you
continue on your way,
for me,
don't be sorry,
and remember to
keep your chin up.
You might just
see the clouds
as the wind
blows them away.

Your cloud metaphor is
Your cloud metaphor is superb...it seems that it sufficiently sums up what you're trying to say.
"...don't be sorry,
and remember to
keep your chin up.
You might just
see the clouds
as the wind
blows them away."
And especially these last few lines - they are beautifully powerful and capture such a hopeful spirit. Love it!
Thanks.
Well thank you very much. I'm glad you enjoyed the metaphor.
