Success

I'm kneeling
behind home plate
hidden behind my armor
waiting
for the next pitch
to hurtle towards me.
My heart pounds
at a steady beat
and my breath
goes in and out
in and out.
I'm nervous
that I'm not going
to catch the ball
or that
the runner on third
will steal home
and I will be too slow
to get her out.
Suddenly,
I see the pitcher winding up
and I quickly draw
my breath
the ball flies from her hand
it soars to me
the batter swings,
misses,
and the ball
smacks
into my open glove
and stays there.
Success.

in a catcher too so this drew

in a catcher too so this drew me right in as soon as i saw "behind home plate." i dont know if you are actually a catcher but by the sounds of it you are. ill i can say is good luck its a stressful position especially with that runner on third. but be confident in yourself and protect your plate because thats what i call it. "My Plate" haha.
