The Devil's Midst
"You have served me
well, & have almost repaid
your debt, although there
is one problem with that.
You will never be free,
never again."
He takes the chains he is
holding ever-so-slightly
and he is
walking ever-so-quietly
so I can listen to the silence
before he ever-so-swfitly
ties me with them.
He yanks me up by my hair,
bringing my face close
to his.
His eyes are black,
& I look into what I can see.
"Neither will you,"
I hiss.
I am dropped,
the knife come slicing on
my alabaster skin,
cutting me into pieces.
Soon
[but not soon enough]
I am drenched in my own
red blood.
I hear
ever-so-slightly to
someone's singing voice,
as I am lifted to my feet.
Ever-so-quietly
I sing along,
& ever-so-swiftly I die,
falling backwards into
the nothing I am thankful
to be embraced in,
because in the devil's
midst is where anyone
in hell wishes they weren't.
& now I wish I heard
the holy man's singing
voice more often
to ease the pain I was in,
but we all know,
I rejected His offer of
love, because I was
ignorant enough to think
I didn't need it.
& even now,
I feel in the devil's midst,
a part of him never
leaving me,
a part of him in me,
a part of him is me.

powerful
Wow. Amazing and powerful. This reminded me of Dante's poem Inferno. My favorite line is:
I feel in the devil's midst,
a part of him never
leaving me,
a part of him in me,
a part of him is me.
I think that this should go on the front page. This is gold material. Nothing can get better than this.
keep up the good work,
Pug
