let us take a moment & bow our heads
"Let us take a moment and bow our heads," said the priest.
For the young ones, I thought, lost long ago.
For the old ones, I thought, forgotten like their years.
I bow my head for the soldiers, who give their lives.
I bow my head for the women, who must be brave.
& for everyone, I thought, who needs a second chance.
I take a lot of things for granted that I feel shouldn't be,
but I do it anyway & I just don't know why, fucking why.
I take these people for granted & when they aren't looking
I take these knives & I stab them. Ten, fifteen, twenty times.
They will never know why because they will not live
to see my reasons or my blind rage.
I do a lot of things I shouldn't and yet I still do them,
even when I know it's wrong & it will only get me a one-way ticket to hell.
But I don't care, what else do I have to lose? Nothing.
These opportunities come & I forget who I am & I take them,
like I took a locket from that girl last week
[...& I saw her crying later & I wanted to die.]
"Let us take a moment and bow our heads," said the priest.
For the struggling people, I thought, knowing not where to go.
For the insane, I thought, losing their senses.
I bow my head for the loved ones, who won't ever know hate.
I bow my head for try-hards, who don't know how much they mean to someone just being themselves.
& for everyone, I thought, who needs a second chance.
Now I ask you to bow your head for me, someone who
has just admitted all of their wrongdoings to anyone who
is listening for nothing, fucking nothing.

(Please give me a moment so I can close my mouth which has dropped open in awe.)
Damn. That's cliche, but damn. This is wonderfully powerful. And brilliantly titled. I'd called it lovely, but that just seems like to delicate of a word. (But lovely almost does describe it.) It's just...damn.
(And the stabbing part? Well, this is sort of ridiculous, but I'm in sort of an ironic mood so I feel as though I have to say: Have you ever seen Llama's With Hats? Youtube? It's...well not the best humor...but...well it is rather funny if you've had a bad day or something. Anyways, although it may not be completely relevant, the 'stabbing' section of this masterpiece reminded me of that.)
Just parfaite.

(Let me take a moment to breathe from the laughter that occured because of reading your first sentence.)
Thank you for your comment. Really, seriously, honestly thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed this. I was feeling a bit dark & melancholy, so I'm glad that came across.
Yes, I've seen the Llamas With Hats. It's...hilarious. One of the many things I watch on Youtube to pass the time, actually. It's somewhat funny because I just had one of those 'Ohhh' moments when I read about your mentioning of those videos...
Anyways. Thank you. So damn much.

Rogue--
You're definitely welcome. I love this piece!
And if you've seen Llamas With Hat's, have you by any chance seen "The Furious Little Cinnamon Bun"? It is quite possibly the most random thing that I have ever seen, and well....has sort of the same humor to it.
(Please allow me a moment to giggle hysterically.)

This is a beautiful, just a beautiful poem. Great job. It has this quality, and I have no idea what it is, but it feels like I have been transported into the life of the narrator, and I am sitting in the church listening to the priest and am thinking about my wrongdoings. Great job!

Consider my mind blown.
Like, all the way blown. Exploded.
In other words: This is intense. Damn. And I loved every word.

I'm not trying to ruin anybody's life. Sometimes I'm just really, really bad at doing people favors.
