Don't Bury Me

EleanorRoosevelt's picture

There is a funeral making its way down the high way,

cars alway come to a halt

there are people like me searching for a better way

to live their lives.

I lived a good life you'll hear them say

as tears go down and soak the ground

the reap crept in and took my breath away

in the middle of the night.

they celebrate the life I had

it's like my best party only happened when I died.

they gather around to pay respects

while their souls are searching for the light.

so please don't come to me on my dying day

just let me go in peace

with all the things I've forgot to say,

racing through my mind are the words I wish I've said.

but don't bury me under ground,

just burn my body in a box

and let my ashes blow with the wind

out in the night, sky high.
