see no evil...
She pressed her face to the window of the small cafe, and her breath fogged the glass, hiding the raindrops on the window outside. Curls of smoky, sweet coffee surrounded her face, her hands warmed by the mug under her chin. A plunking guitar, far removed from the rest of the sounds in the cafe, punctuated her thoughts. She began to feel slightly uneasy, and wondered where her father could be.
Right when that thought came to mind, she noticed a dark, almost spider-like figure approaching the window, icy blank eyes staring straight into hers. Her blood froze in her veins as it moved closer and closer. She began to shake and the coffee mug fell from her grip, and shattered on the floor. She jumped from her seat, her face so pale is seemed blue, and sprinted to the bathroom, where she was violently sick. The entire room reeked of blood and uncertainty, and she knew she couldn't hide.
She walked back out, and her broken mug was gone. So was her table, the figure outside the window, and every customer that had been there. The building was spotlessly empty. The rain had stopped, and the room was silent, but for a strange, soft hum, soothing and unsettling at the same time. Taking a step forward, she noticed a miniscule hole in the floor. She bent down, and peered inside, then dove in, letting the darkness swallow her whole.
There was a moment of silent blackness, then an incessant mechanical beeping.
She opened her eyes, and looked at the ceiling as she took a deep breath. She reached over, shut off her alarm clock, and began her day.
