A Lonley God Who Fell from the Sky
Take a deep breath. Close your eyes. Imagine.
Imagine this.
Wind, whipping your hair out of its braid, striking your face and neck,
making its presence known, but not really hurting.
Beneath your bare feet, short grass grows under a shady tree.
The only tree. Grassy hills stretch out in the distance, and you are on top of the world.
A cliff, with a crumbly edge, and a single tree, and grassy turf, and a lone person,
just you, on top of the world.
Your thin windbreaker is shed, falling to the ground.
Your jeans rustle softly as you step forward.
Your thinner tank top is the only protection from the whipping wind.
Hundreds of feet below, waves crash.
An endless ocean stretches from your cliff into forever.
You are alone, above the minds of millions, on top of the world,
but out of heavens reach.
You breathe in, close your eyes, and step off the cliff.
Falling
Falling
Falling
Towards the billions of minds inhabiting the ocean.
They can’t see you. Hear you. Feel you.
The quick breath you pull in as the collapsing universe tries to take it away.
Only, it’s just yours.
Your universe is collapsing, but it may just be the ocean rushing up to meet you.
Only, you don’t care.
The sensation of falling at its maximum and you open your heart.
Powerful wings unfurl, and you pull up. Just barely.
Impact lessened, you
Fall
And fall
Until
The oceans come up to greet you.
Diving under, into the depths.
Minds flooding yours, hoping to catch some of the extraordinary.
Holding on to that last strip of imagination left.
The spark you hold can set a fire. Bring a world to life. Or burn it to the ground.
Black crow wings, eyes like a hawks, soul of a god. You are powerful. You are strong.
But you are alone. And you are lost.
Energy flows through your veins where mortals have blood. But nothing is enough.
The rush of falling is the only thing that can stir any emotion. But it’s not enough.
Coming up
Your break free from the tides
You stretch your mind and your wings, and float.
Just on the surface, where the minds can sense you, but never know you.
And you stay there a while.
Floating in a sea of minds.
An ocean of souls.
None compatible with yours.
None compassionate enough to care.
About a lonley god
Who fell from the sky
Abandoned
Alone
Uncertain
And uncaring
Imagining that the world is nothing, and you arent alone, you are just one. The only one...
