The Vampire

The mention of his name sends all a-twitter. Gossip spreads like wildfire and the rumors are no different. He would be here within the hour, or at least the rumors told. He never shows when expected.

The primping and fantasizing becomes more frantic and pathetic as each minute passes. The laughter is faked more, the seats are so uncomfortable and unseemly that no space seems to be worth the time spent there, and the conversation becomes stagnant. Food disappears faster and faster as it becomes an excuse for lack of chatter. The fidgeting and restlessness becomes so bad that not a soul stays still.

   Then the door opens.

His imperious frame leans against the door frame as he withdraws his footwear. His smile, all white and shining, warms the heart. Running a hand through his hair with extreme finesse; he is a comfort to the eyes. He bounds up the stairs with admirable grace and sweeps past a fragrance, that sends chills down the spine, left wafting in his wake.

What was, just moments before, a disintegrating party becomes a vibrant, unique gathering in milliseconds. Immediately, he is at work. Like a puppeteer, he waves his hands and everyone is at his will. His opinion becomes face and rule. Those who oppose him are burned to within an inch of their lives by his followers.

He turns every follower into a worm, dissecting them and making them the steer of the room, manipulating their actions, thoughts, opinions, etc.

The women are his true targets. It matters not whether they are infatuated with him initially, because every woman gets manipulated eventually. He pulls on heartstrings sometimes with both hands, apathetic to whether they snap or not, leaving the heart forever wounded. His indecision on the women around him stems from his want of all of them to himself. Leaving them with tokens of his affection creates a force field around them, making them dependent and isolated from the outside world.

Like all villians and monsters, he is intelligent and shows profound depth and expertise in various fields.

As swiftly as he appears and does his damage, he leaves, creating both relief and emptiness due to his absense. He drains the life and elasticity from the people around him to keep him alive.

    Beware the vampire!
