Battery Park Slam -- Fantastic!
UPDATE: No rain. Glorious sunset. Amazing slamming and music. Thanks to everyone. At one count, I spied more than 60 people listening to everyone's brilliant wordsmithing... THANKS! (gg)

Friday Oct. 12, 7 p.m., location to be announced, at the Brattleboro Literary Festival. Selected writers to present work live (recorded and aired later on Vermont Public Radio)

YWP kicked off our 2012-2013 slam season with an outdoor poetry slam at the Battery Park bandshell TODAY, Friday, August 17 from 6:00 to 8:30. Come for an evening of poetry, music, excitement, and general YWP festivities.
A poetry slam is competitive poetry performance. Each slammer gets three minutes to strut their poetic stuff in front of an audience of friends, neighbors, and supremely unqualified judges, who give the poet a score on the spot. The top five slammers go on to the sudden death round with a new poem, and the winner brings home a prize.
If you wish to slam, sign up before 6:15. If you want to judge, just volunteer!

Indeed! There'll be a table
Indeed! There'll be a table with slips of paper, which you'll write your name upon and put in a hat. The MC will draw names from the hat to determine the order of slammers.
