Big Bag of Peanut M&Ms Challenge #1

Want to try to craft a story with your pals on this site? Always wanted to do a Flash Fiction exercise slowly? Love to spring forth from the ideas of others? FANTASTIC! We have just the thing for you.

Starting immediately, we are asking you -- all of you, any of you -- to go to the shared stories page (click COLLABORATE up top) and have at it. Start your own story or pick one started as of 9.14.2012 and add to it. Have fun, but try to adhere to these ground rules:

• Try to follow the initial author's thread

• Try to keep your addition in the same tone as the original and previous additions
• Try not to take the story so far out that it becomes impossible to retrieve

YWP's Inter-galactic Esteemed Judges Panel (forever to remain anonymous) will look at all entries started and completed by 10.1.2012 and determine which one we like best. Our criteria:

• That's it's interesting to read
• That it hangs together and doesn't go into to many wild tangents
• That it has a credible voice (I know, that's hard to define)
• That it follows a dramatic arc and has some sort of climax/resolution

We may involve all of you in the voting if we feel the best of the lot are pretty close and we'll explain then how we'll do that.

Winners will receive, via post or carrier pigeon, whichever is quicker, a decent size bag of M&Ms sent to your home (so make sure your info is up to date) or you can stop by and pick it up. (Or, if you've secretly always wanted to be a Canadian, a large Aero bar.)

So tell your friends. Post some ideas. See what gets going... And most of all have fun.
