Baby Bird

She looked so restless

Sitting in the stale air, trembling with a twitch

She looked so helpless

The cold pierced her skin like hornets

AS I stepped into her cocoon of silence

She jumped

Then told me her plans to jump from the nest

Was it wrong for me

To catch Her?

Was it wrong for me?

To say no.

I took her by the hand

Begging, pleading please don’t go

Don’t leave this safe haven

Into the secrets of the night

Of the world

Of our lives

So I tucked her into my arm

Charging through the wind

And I placed her down

And told her she was never to go again

Now I’m stuck here

Wondering,

Will she ever jump again?

Will my baby bird ever grow up and fly?
