A Sailor's Goodbye

jacketbundock's picture

There’s a beautiful girl who waits by the sea,

Drowning in her unconditional love for me,

I see no way out of this eternal black,

Please watch over her, I won’t be coming back.

Lord I beg of you, don’t let her fade away,

Don’t let her days fade into an endless grey.

Even though I’ll be gone, her life will still be there,

Tell her I’ll be with her in her every breath of air.

Lord please forgive me for all that I have done,

And thank you for the sea, Lord, the moon, the stars, and the sun.

Thank you for my life, Lord, my wife, my love,

We will embrace again, only this time up above.

Please take me to your kingdom upon this stormy night,

Away from cold water crests and lightning that strikes bright.

But don’t forget the girl with the ocean deep blue eyes,

For I hope to see her again, someday, somewhere in the

Skies.

Thanks everyone! I will see if I can figure out how to do a podcast (I have never done one before!).

People say if you look down, you will fall, but if you look up, will you fly?

This makes me think of the sailor down at the waterfront in Burlington. I really love the prayer aspect, super nice!

wow

Erin, this is really thoughtful, I guess, I don't know the right word for it. I am amazed by your seamless rhyming and incorporating prayer (why don't you do that at church hehe). How did you come up with this idea? Last time I checked, you are not drowning, but I am just wondering how you thought of this...
