Cozy Winter

In the deep slumber of winter,

I am welcomed by the warmth of a fire.

The evening's snowfall,

Like a million tiny stars, each giving me little winks of glinter.

Just me, my dog, and the fire.

The house is so silent, no sound is present, not even of a distant choir.
And I begin to conspire,

While I lay here in the nest of my home, all cozied up, just like a mouse.

Listening to the winds of winter, while it rustles my house.

What more could be desired?

The warm, dancing orange hue seems to raise my spirit anew.

I find comfort here, confined in my home,

Nothing else is required.

If only I could reach a little further

Gazing for the grasp on reality
With every swipe I make to take hold of
The brim of this hole I tripped into weeks ago.
I get a little closer but end up falling twice,
