Reality
Submitted by Usagi on Tue, 09/23/2008 - 5:50pmI was surprisingly cheerful when I wrote this.
I thought I was real but reality's subjective.
Lately I feel I'm walking through a dream.
I made a deal I would stay objective
but I look at my life; I want to scream
This is all there is. This is
all we'll ever see.
What's laid out before us is
all there'll ever be.
Doncha see the flags
waving at half-mast?
Betcha not just me
who's realized this can't last.
And the world
isn't pretty ponies
like they told you in second grade.
Before
you found out it's more about
trying to get laid.
And I refuse to apologize if I offend.
I don't intend to be your friend
'cause chances are we'll all be dead
by 2010.
So celebrate the life you have
'cause it's all you'll ever get.
Break out the beer and the good champagne
'cause
we're not dead yet.
Dear Son
Submitted by Usagi on Tue, 09/23/2008 - 5:22pmGreenie and I watched a documentary in Terrorism this afternoon, a film about ordinary people in Iraq. One scene that struck me was an artist, a painter, sitting in front of his work and talking about a woman he'd seen, an old woman holding the remains of her son in a bag and telling him that his father had died, his sister had gotten married, his brother bought a store. The man looked straight at the camera and said, "It was like she'd crossed the threshold of tears. She couldn't feel anything."
The bell rang and I walked outside and wrote the first verse of this song. I finished it on the bus.
Dear son your sister married last month
to the boy she liked before the war.
Your brother finally saved enough
to buy his own store.
Dear son I'm sorry to say
your father died yesterday.
His last word were
"No more to endure."
Dear son another bombing today
as they've been bombing us all year.
Dear son it's hard to recall
when we didn't hide in fear. Read more »
Love Songs (secular.mosh.pit and Professor_Zoom collaboration)
Submitted by secular.mosh.pit on Sun, 09/21/2008 - 9:57pmThis is probably our nicest song yet. It took a lot of takes to get it right. I'm on the percussion, Zoom's on guitar and vocals.
I should also state that I wrote this song, and I've been told to say that to avoid any kind of confusion or delusions of substitution. I hope no one understood that.
STAB YOU IN THE THROAT! (secular.mosh.pit and Professor_Zoom collaboration)
Submitted by secular.mosh.pit on Sun, 09/21/2008 - 9:44pmThis is a song that my good friend Professor_Zoom wrote one day in school. It's profane, violent and disturbing. You've been warned. I'm on the drums, Zoom himself is on guitar, vocals and insanity.
Mr. Crimy (secular.mosh.pit and Professor_Zoom collaboration)
Submitted by secular.mosh.pit on Sun, 09/21/2008 - 11:33amThis is the follow-up to "Keenan Sucks!!" and it's about our history teacher. I'm on drums, Professor_Zoom is on guitar, vocals and crazy good.
We would like advice on whether we should post our other, very angry song called "STAB YOU IN THE THROAT." Would you be offended? Entertained? Disturbed?
Keenan Sucks!! (secular.mosh.pit and Professor_Zoom collaboration)
Submitted by secular.mosh.pit on Sat, 09/20/2008 - 9:12pmAlright, this is a song written and performed by a new punk duo called Mummified Fetus. I'm on drums and Professor_Zoom's on guitar and vocals. We never wrote any lyrics or practiced at all, which is part of the reason that it sucks so much. The other reason is that our friend who's a good guitarist didn't show up, and this song is about him. As a warning, there is a lot of vulgarity, hate and suckiness contained in this file, so beware.

Lyrics: me. Lead vocals: me. "Ooooo-oo-oo"-ing: me times two, thanks to Audacity. Percussion: me, tapping on the lid of a metal breadbox.
You believed in fairies
and you showed me where they lived
in little houses made from twigs and grass.
I’m sure they’re long gone now
crushed and blown away.
I know now that these things can never last.
I’m sure you think that I’m a bitch
and I know I think the same.
I still wonder what went wrong
but I think that I’m to blame.
I want to ask you if you’re happy
with the way you chose to go.
But we’re no longer speaking
so I guess I’ll never know.
I pass you in the halls,
keep my gaze straight ahead.
I can no longer see the girl I knew.
I know I went away
and I know that things have changed.
But I still want to ask:
What happened to you?
What happened to you?
You used to whisper in my ear
secrets only for me to hear.
And you know by now that I never told.
But even friends forever soon gets Read more »
Nagasaki Blue
Submitted by Usagi on Wed, 09/17/2008 - 6:59pmApologies for the awful quality--the microphone I'm using loves grabbing as much static and random buzzing as it can.
She used to love the fairy tales,
she thought that they were coming true
when his lips touched hers and her heart lit up
and the sky shone bright Nagasaki blue.
She thought that she could make it work,
though how she never really knew.
She thought that nothing could’ve changed
and the sky would stay Nagasaki blue.
She said “I love you” but she didn’t mean it
and she wiped away her tears before they hit the ground.
She thought she’d found perfection, she was only thirteen
and she said goodbye without making a sound.
Said goodbye without making a sound.
She looked at pictures to remember his face
and she signed her emails “I miss you”
and she counted down the days until he came
and the sky would shine Nagasaki blue.
She said “I love you” but she didn’t mean it.

Flies
Submitted by Usagi on Wed, 09/17/2008 - 5:27pmThe flies are coming in, lazy heat-drunk specks
that zip around the classroom, dodging hands
aimed for their demise.
---------------------------The slowest smash
and the rest begin to cluster by the windows
tiny bodies pounding at the glass
-------------------------------------until they die:
little corpses littering the sill,
-------------------------------------wings poised to fly.
I'm one of them today. I lean against the glass
icy on my arm, against my cheek,
------------------------------------eyes drifting shut
beneath the stare of artificial light.
I want to break a window, smash it with my hands;
to run, scream harsh and cracked and raw,
to sprint along the grass until the wind bites at my throat
and I collapse
-------------------breathing hard and free.
Let me get outside, get away,
anywhere but here
-------where voices rise and pound against my skull
-------and throngs of people dodge across the halls, Read more »
