The Feelings of Francis
Submitted by faughnanc on Wed, 05/02/2012 - 8:56am
Don’t you miss him at heart?
Now mix it in,
but go with the energy from the truth
of the new day.
And up he’s staying
in the peace of the angels.
It’s you.
The gift you give.
Love.
Ambiguous Earthquakes

Pavement. The only thing solid.
A ninety-degree summer night and I'm bare.
Stripped.
Empty.
Lying on blank pavement.
Light comes from no place but the moon,
shining through polluted air.
Time and knowledge erode at pure thoughts,
breaking the seal, toxic,
knowing.
The pavement scratches your skin,
scrapes at your soul,
her gaze, like her gaze
the key. Shadow of rust on its surface from sweaty palms And knowing,
she, knowing.
I remember, she told me, that
"It unlocks many things,
but only one of them is important.
Figure it out."
Her heart.
The key to. Knowing that someone loves you
can kill you.
Scratches at your heart, erodes you
will, regret, that hate, know.
No.
I don't know.
Empty.
Stripped.
A ninety degree summer night and I'm bare.
Pavement. The only thing solid.

Tidal Wave
Submitted by Thatannoyinggir... on Sun, 02/26/2012 - 7:41pm
She sees the world through broken eyes,
And unaware of the world she cries.
First short sniffles,
Then long silent sobs.
A stranger asks if she’s okay,
Her head simply bobs.
For all she has left are the hopeless lies.
Cause there is no one left to hear her cries.
For her Mom and dad have gone away,
And shall never see another day.
They have left their 3 year old daughter,
As they float away in the cold, cruel water.
The Big Game
Submitted by LancorGoalie on Sat, 02/25/2012 - 6:29pmJust before the big Softball Championship Game. My head was thinking, "Don't be upset if you don't play or make a mistake. My heart was racing wildly. My hands were clasped full of eagerness and sweat. My mind was in the game. Ready for whatever lay ahead. I took a deep breath and forgot about all the people, family, coaches in the stands. I thought about one thing. The neon green, red stitched ball. Everything was left behind. All my hard work came down to the 7 innings in which started right on time. I was focused, determined to be the only young kid on the team to say I put all my pieces in one place and made everyone see my talent and determined mind through the whole game. Every before big games are nerve recking, but so rewarding in the end.
The Unlocking
Submitted by LancorGoalie on Sat, 02/25/2012 - 6:11pmMy father let him see me one last time, before he would banish him. I was surprised and excited for my lover to come once more. "How can we see eachother again," he asked. "Letters, Showing our love." I smiled at him. "I mean how can I lift the curse?" I took his hand in mine and curled his fingers around a small cold silver key. "This is the only way. I cannot help other wise." He pursed his lips. "But. When." I cut him short. "You will know soon and don't let me down."I kiss him on the cheek as I see him for the last time. I hope he survives. I sit on my bed and hold my head in my hands. Tears well up in my eyes. I fall into a deep black trance. Not able to leave until I see him once again. The curse has started. And will not end anytime soon.
Shrinking With The Rain
Submitted by LancorGoalie on Sat, 02/25/2012 - 6:00pmHis words are like daggers to my heart.
I need, breath, live, and die for him.
He leaves like a gust of wind, leaving me in the street like a broken toy.
He no longer cares. Even when I come in the rain to plead my case.
He leaves me broken destroyed on the side walk with only an umbrella to share my displeasure with.
I am the rain sliding off the umbrella trying to find pleasure once again, but non comes.
Memories
Submitted by LancorGoalie on Thu, 02/02/2012 - 2:28pmStanding at the Lake House in Kittery, Maine. The little log cabin outlooks the ocean. I can smell the sea, salt, lotion, and the sun. I walk down the board walk and hang my legs over the edge. Waiting in the cool afternoon water.
My hair is pulled back into a braid. This is the only way to keep my hair off of my face. My gray eyes glimmer with the hot afternoon sun. I will always remember this afternoon. There is no worry in the world, no one to put me down or fall in love with. I don't have to think about school and projects due. I can tan and have a fun filled summer. This house wasn't always my home.
I grew up in Nevada. Always looking for adventure in Las Vegas. I always got myself into trouble. I guess really I was the TROUBLE! No one understood I needed someone. One night I walked into a party at Caesar's Palace Hotel. I was looking for a new kind of adventure. I immediately started on the drinks. No one needs and ID in Vegas. The world was tilting and swinging all around me. I almost didn't know who I was. I started to walk up 12 sets of stairs when I fell back down all 12 sets. A bell hop man say me and started to call 911. I hadn't a clue why. Everything was a blur. Even the ride to the hospital. I was exhausted and tired so I just hoped into the ambulance willingly. What the doctor had told me was besides having my stomach pumped I had broken my arm so severely my bone was sticking out the side of my arm. The doctor had serious conversations with my parents. Once I was able to leave the hospital we got in a car and traveled to where I am now. In Maine. Read more »
Anywhere?
Submitted by LancorGoalie on Tue, 01/31/2012 - 4:08pmWhere would you go if you could go anywhere? Vermont, Massachusetts How about Florida? Would you travel over the Atlantic Ocean to Europe and see Greece, Italy, maybe even Spain or Russia? You say I'm not even close. How about Australia, the sun, Neptune all the way to the Milky Way? No? Where do you want to go? "HOME," a little voice whispers running away
VERMONT
Submitted by LancorGoalie on Tue, 01/31/2012 - 4:04pmMy town is where the maple syrup comes from
My town is small in area, but large in courage and family.
My town is freezing in the winter, but sweltering in the summer.
My town is full of small town students with ginormous dreams.
My town is special to me filled with relaxing sights and memory filled places.
My town is where I live and will always live.
My town is White River Junction, Vermont!
Goodbye
Submitted by Blackrose on Wed, 01/11/2012 - 9:21pm"Goodbye." I call out.
Goodbye, it's so sad sounding
you might see them again
You might be saying goodbye to them forever
You never think about that when you say goodbye...
It could be the last time you see them
Goodbye
So often goodbye said
Heard
Nobody ever thinks that it could be the last time that you see them
I never thought they would go without me seeing them again
i was wrong

Evil Rainbows
Submitted by LancorGoalie on Wed, 11/23/2011 - 9:34pmBreaking news: A rainbow has sucked our mayor Jack Miller. Citizens from all over are running in circles and screaming wondering what to do next. I am here with Ben Phillips and Willow Chambers. These interviews could potentially help our special forces come up with a plan to find and defeat this unnatural source. "Ben, what have you seen today?" "Well I was walking home from school. I stopped to get some coffee and on my way out I noticed the glistening colors of a rainbow. All I could do was stare in awe because the colors were so bright and beautiful! Read more »
I know you?
Submitted by LancorGoalie on Sun, 11/20/2011 - 3:44pm"I know you," I stammer. My brain is fuzzy from loss of memory.
The crash from two months ago isn't helping me at all. I was driving from Vermont to Quebec. It was a slick ice covered road. I was driving ten miles under the speed limit being cautious because of the road condition. I saw a boy with blonde hair sticking on end. His sea green eyes staring frantically at the ground. He stood in the middle of the road unafraid of the impact that was about to happen. I slammed on the break. Swerving to not hit this boy. That was my first mistake. The ice spun my car around. I started to freak out and accidentally hit the gas instead of the breaks. The car lurched forward to 30 miles per hour. The car smashed into the tree. I heard a snap and pain immediately flowed everywhere. I was ready to pass out.
I saw him again, The boy. I was looking up into his eyes. His arms wrapped around me carrying me some place safe.I tried to move my arm and screamed with the pain that shot through my arm. I passed out for good.
The next thing I remember is waking up in a hospital bed. My parents bringing me home not asking a single question.
But now you are here in my backyard.
"Why," I ask with so many questions running through my head.
"I need your help," he replies with a deep raspy voice. I am surprised by this sudden change of conversation. I am silent. "We need to hurry," he says grabbing my arm. The one with the scar from shoulder to forearm on it. I pull away.
"Sorry," he blurts out.
"I don't even know your name. Why would I go with you. You could murder me or something crazy," I go on. Read more »

Pseudo-geek
Submitted by treehugger on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 3:41pm
When I was younger,
I never thought I would be the person that I am
Free-speaking, half-outgoing, mediocrely popular
Careful, opinionated, determined
I imagined myself as a shy kid,
a complete geek with pale skin,
and greasy hair.
Living in front of a computer
with a green over black window open.
Text streaming down,
while I frantically pound on the keyboard.
It’s weird how people can influence your life and thoughts,
and free your mind of all insecurities
I’m a pseudo-geek,
writing pseudo-code,
with a pseudo-persona.
It’s a wicked leak,
from my code,
created from my pseudo-persona.
The CPU spikes,
from my code,
created from my pseudo-persona
The swap space fills,
from my code,
created from my pseudo-persona
Here I go, on Hurricane Hill
it’s really cold,
that’s only from my pseudo-man persona
Here I post, on YWP
with my pseudo-poet persona.

Promises
Submitted by treehugger on Fri, 10/28/2011 - 8:04amPromise you will love me till the sea washes us away, till the wanning moon becomes our master, till we become stars, close enough to touch it.
Promise me love, that if you ever reach the stars before I do, you will wait for me by the ocean until I can take your hand again.
---
I found someone else, and could not bear to stare at the ocean.
You found someone else, and imeadiately I headed for the ocean, to wait for you. Read more »
Two Chairs
Submitted by treehugger on Fri, 10/28/2011 - 7:13amTwo chairs sit in silence.
Watching the ocean waves roll over the sand, and listening to the roar.
They both wonder if their people are coming back, but don't say anything.
Silence.
As time goes by, the sky gets darker, and the waves get closer and louder.
The chairs realize they have been left.
“Are they coming back?” asks one of the chairs.
“Nope, they’re gone.
“We will just have to wait until two more people come along. Read more »
Chair prompt
Submitted by treehugger on Fri, 10/28/2011 - 7:11amWhile at the ocean in two chairs, the older couple watched the ocean’s deep blue waves slap against the surface of the shore and then fall back into the vast glob of blue.
Down hard and rumble back is what they watched for hours, back and forth, but every hit seemed to be different, every roar of water, every moment they blinked there would be a new scene of sea. Read more »
Chair prompt
Submitted by treehugger on Fri, 10/28/2011 - 7:09am“Oh Bernie” said Marsha, a senior citizen with bleached white hair and clothes and makeup much too young for her age, “Is this really how we want to spend our last years? Sitting here on the beach, in these god-forsaken chairs? “
A man in what looks to be his sixties, turns to her, his blue eyes with too long eyelashes to be natural, and skin way too tan next to his white-gray hair. Read more »
