Words charging at mE
Homework coming to an End

Saying Good Bye
Submitted by ltarbell2000 on Thu, 05/31/2012 - 10:58am
Why is it so hard to say goodbye? There are a lot of reasons like you made friends, you like your teachers, and maybe you even have a boyfriend or girlfriend. It’s hard when you have to say goodbye when you’re in a relationship because then you has to find someone else that you can be in a relationship with at your new school.
But, if you have technology you can stay in touch with your classmates. For example, Skype is one way, Facebook is, and Face time. Face time is when you have an iPad or iPod and you can see the person face to face. Facebook is when you log into your account and you can chat people after you send them a friend request and they answer it. And if you have a video camera then you can see them. And Skype is the same thing.
But of course, you’ll miss your teacher like when I go back to Florida I’m going to miss my first boy teacher Mr. Morrison. He’s always been nice and it’s great that I have him as a teacher because when you have a girl teacher they don’t usually go out for recess and play football with you. And plus, when you have a boy teacher you can bond with them and do manly things. It’s going to be hard to say goodbye.
Good Bye

I rush though the grass in the field behind my house, to check on my uncle. He left two hours ago and the sense of death is in the air. As I reach the pond, I clearly see what happened. A tear rolls down my cheek. I never thought in a million year my uncle would be kicked into the pond by his prized bull and drown. I look around for the bull and I am now worried for my life. The herd is nowhere to be seen. I dive into the algae covered pond and retrieve my uncle. When I reach the bank I hear a distinctive moo made by the bull that killed my uncle Richard. I see the cow’s golf ball size eyes and notice that he wants to kill. I say good bye to Richard and goodbye to my life just before the beef cow charges.

Goodbye
Submitted by smcdonough on Fri, 05/25/2012 - 10:08amHis poor eyes stare up in to mine; the life draining out of them. I can’t say goodbye to the one that I have loved for so long. The way I used to let him drink my mom’s Mountain Dew when I was young and take my lollypop and stick in his mouth. He didn’t mind. Now all those memories are fading, and I can’t seem to hold on.
Good-bye.
Those terrible words almost slip from my lips, but I can’t seem to say them. I don’t want to say them. It’s too late; his eyes close, and I see him stop breathing. The world gets blurry; tears burn my eyes. I lower my head to his body, hoping that he is somewhere safe in doggy heaven chasing after a bone. Maybe, he is finally happy and free, not having his legs hurt all the time.
I sink to the floor and weep; I have had my dog for so long, since I was two, and now my best friend is gone. No more puppy eyes. No more snotty wet nose that looked like he ran into a wall. I loved him with all my heart; he was the best dog I ever had.
My other dog, Tink, walks up to me and looks up at her best friend wondering why he’s not moving .She wonders why she will never see him again. She tilts her head and starts to whimper, prodding Toby telling him to move. But he just can’t.
Saying good bye is hard, especially if it’s someone you loved.

Green fuzzy grump
Plug your nose
He's stinky as can be
Rotten food, trash
But sometimes he's...
A really good friend and,
A good monster
Take Me out to the Ball Game
Submitted by smcdonough on Thu, 05/17/2012 - 9:59am
When I think of green, I think of a baseball field
The way the players leave their foot prints
Trailing through the kiwi lime grass,
The cheering of fans for the lake monsters,
The jade banners, flapping in the summer breeze,
The thudding sound of the ball, gently falling on the grass
Crack! A home run! Leaping for the ball, missing, wondering
“Where did it go?”
Years going by, nobody finding that home run ball,
I know where it lays, down on the field in the lime green grass.

Water Pollution
Submitted by dmorrison on Wed, 05/16/2012 - 9:48amIf I had the power to solve one problem it would be water pollution in our country. Pollution in our waters impacts our available drinking water. Sixty-five percent of our nation's drinking water is provided by rivers and streams. Threeats from untreated sewage dumped annually pollute our drinking water. Water pollution also impact fishermen too. Fishermen on the Gulf of Mexico have been negatively impacted by the B.P. oil spill of April 20, 2010. Oil polluted the water and negatively impacted ocean life, making fishermen unable to sell their catch. This is why water pollution is a problem in the United States.

Emma
Submitted by smcdonough on Fri, 05/11/2012 - 3:13pmWhen I think of Emma, beauty comes to mind. Her curly, shoulder-length, golden-brown hair bounces up and down with each step. Emma’s hair matches her personality perfectly. She is spontaneous and humorous; Emma is always smiling. Her eyes seem to twinkle and sparkle like a star in the sky. I imagine that on the inside Emma is just as shiny and bubbly, full of ideas and kindness. She is amazingly beautiful. I am so fortunate that Emma is my sister.
Tough Traveling
Submitted by smcdonough on Fri, 05/11/2012 - 3:01pmTropical Storm Irene caused problems with traveling around the state of Vermont on both roads and railroads. Tropical Storm Irene washed out roads and bridges making travel around the state hard or impossible to do. The Vermont government says the rebuilding cost of roads from Tropical Storm Irene is 1,000,000 dollars. Railroad tracks also were destroyed by Tropical Storm Irene. When Tropical Storm Irene washed out railroads, two trains full of food spoiled, which was worth $25,000. When food spoiled on the trains, there was a whole week that grocery stores had no new food. Tropical Storm Irene made traveling hard to do for people and products.

Power Problem
Submitted by dmorrison on Fri, 05/11/2012 - 1:22pm
Electric companies are raising “bills” and making problems for the customers in the state of Vermont. Two types of electric companies called CVPS and Green Mountain Power are combining and raising their electric “bills” in some cases between $1,100 - $2,500 almost 75% increase on some local businesses. For example, electric companies have affected the town of Proctor because the Proctor Marble Museum is closing doors forever this fall; it’s a tourist attraction, and Proctor is known for its marble. The Hemm’s have owned the Proctor Marble Museum for several years and blame electric rates for them closing. This is why electric companies combining are making problems for customers in the state of Vermont.
The Feeling of Beauty
Submitted by dmorrison on Fri, 05/11/2012 - 1:18pmBeauty is not what is on the outside, but on the inside. Their personality, their sense of humor, and their kindness is what makes a person beautiful. Blonde hair, sparkling eyes, healthiness, and their voice describes outer beauty. Intelligent, sporty, and active describes inner beauty. This describes my mom. She fits my feeling of beauty.
Beautiful Mom
Submitted by dmorrison on Fri, 05/11/2012 - 1:17pmBeauty to me is seen in my mother. She has red, curly hair and blue eyes like the sea. She has light skin like the sand on a beach. She has an amazing personality. My mom is not selfish, she is kind and intelligent. My mom makes funny noises, silly faces, and says funny things that are so ridiculously funny. My mom is special to me and I wanted to write this for her for Mother’s Day!
Closed for Business
Submitted by dmorrison on Fri, 05/11/2012 - 1:14pmAre raising gas prices a problem for dairy farmers? Dairy farms are shutting down because of increased prices in fuel. In 1950 there were over 11,000 dairy farmers, In May 2011 there were only 999 dairy farms, and now in March 2012 973 dairy farms are left in the state of Vermont.
Food or Fuel?
Submitted by dmorrison on Fri, 05/11/2012 - 1:07pmRising fuel prices are a problem in the state of Vermont. The price of fuel is increasing as a result the price of crude oil going up. The price on average to ship crude oil to Vermont a year ago was $91.00, this year the price is about $102.00 for one barrel! More people have to make the complicated choice of buying food or fuel in Vermont. 15- 20 percent of Vermonters need food assistance from food banks across Vermont. Hopefully in a few years fuel prices won’t be a problem anymore.
