How to submit to the Newspaper Series
Submitted by lmcisaac on Tue, 08/24/2010 - 1:57pmYWP welcomes K-12 students in Vermont and western New Hampshire to submit their written work, photos and art work for possible publication in the Newspaper Series. The work may be done at home or in school, in any genre, and be of any length (though longer pieces may have to be excerpted for publication).
To submit work for the Newspaper Series -- written work, photos and scanned art work -- follow these steps:
Step 1. Login (or create an account if you don't already have one, then login).

To submit GENERAL writing over the summer for consideration for the fall, click here and choose the GENERAL prompt. Support your local newspapers! Buy 'em!

Judging guidelines
Submitted by ggevalt on Tue, 09/18/2007 - 10:55amAll work submitted to this Web site for consideration for outside publication -- Newspaper Series, "My Life" Vermont Public Radio series, Winter Tales prompt with Vermont Stage Company -- is judged by student judges online under the guidance of Lee McIsaac, YWP's Newspaper Series coordinator. In evaluating submissions, judges look for pieces that stand out, have strong voice, fresh content and power. After the judges make their selections, Young Writers Project editors take the finalists into classrooms where final selections are made by other students.

CIVILITY. The Young Writers Project expects that all writing and communication on this Web site -- including comments, blogs, forums AND submissions for outside publication -- be civil, accurate and respectful of others; the latter includes refraining from using profanity, words of hate and any mention of specific individuals not in the public eye.

The Newspaper Series

Through its Newspaper Series, Young Writers Project partners with nine Vermont and New Hampshire newspapers to publish best student work once weekly throughout the school year, with weeks off corresponding to school vacations. All the work printed in the newspaper, plus selections by our judges that could not fit onto the newspaper pages, is also published on this Web site.
