Keep in mind that a response to literature paper is YOUR personal response to a novel or story. Basically, you are arguing your own point -- your thesis statement -- and then defending this point with evidence from the book. Your essay should follow this basic structure:

Reading and writing are complementary subjects that, when studied together, deepen comprehension, skill and learning. By paying close attention to someone else's work, young writers can sharpen their critical thinking and editing skills. Is it clear? Is the writing compelling? Is it convincing? Where is the author headed? Are the characters believable? Young writers can gain insight into voice and style by reading others' work.
