Swimmy powers
Submitted by lmcisaac on Fri, 02/05/2010 - 11:54amI would like to be able to breathe under water because then I could go into the ocean for hours to clear my head. If I wanted to go swim with the fishies and dolphins, I could.
It would be cool to just dive into the ocean with a light like a flashlight and go down near the bottom to see all the water animals. I would love to have that power and go swimming all day. Also, I could work for people who go underwater and discover new animals and objects. I wouldn't need an air tank.
At Four in the Morning...
Submitted by larmstronglaird on Tue, 01/26/2010 - 7:11pmAt four in the morning
The moon hangs high
I’m fast asleep
As the coyotes cry.
When I wake up,
It is time to go
To school to answer
Questions I don’t know.
At four in the afternoon
I’m outside enjoying the sun
Until I must do my homework,
Which ruins the fun.
After I am done,
I have to eat
Then I go to bed
And my day repeats.

Character's Feelings
Submitted by owenp on Tue, 01/26/2010 - 10:35amWe have feelings, animals have feelings too.
Why can't characters have feelings?
I'd say Snow White sometimes feels happy, ecstatic, other times dejected. She sometimes craves something.
Cinderella sometimes feels happy, other times sad, depressed or excited.
The little Mermaid might sometimes feels happy, excited, sad.
Everyone has feelings, even animated people!
I Envy the Ground
Submitted by Liza on Mon, 01/25/2010 - 4:50pmI envy the ground
For being so solid
For being so dominant
In not only its own life, but the lives surrounding
I envy the ground
For being so giving
For being so kind
But not holding grudges
I envy
the ground
For its knowledge
For being the muse
And for being so influential
I envy the ground
For not getting cocky
For being consistent
And for staying down to earth
I envy the ground
For its talent of discipline
For showing who’s boss
Without taking sides
I envy the ground
For seeing it all
For keeping the secrets
And for protecting the lives Read more »

Blur of Moving Lips
Submitted by Addy_smile on Fri, 01/15/2010 - 10:11pmShe utters quiet words
almost unheard
just a blur of moving lips.
He slides closer
whispering those words she needs to hear
as his lips brush her ear
landing candy-soft on the corner of her mouth.
His arm reaches around her
hugging her shoulders
protective.
And for some strange reason I'm at loss
of breath, heart pounding
even though I'm miles away from the display
alone in the bus seat, green and
smelling like too-many kids.
Revolutions
Submitted by reverie on Fri, 01/15/2010 - 6:40pmI do not know the difference between past, present, and future. I have turned my life into one mass of time, because after all, what does it really matter? Read more »
My Revenge
Submitted by foxyd on Fri, 01/15/2010 - 1:52pmOnce in my life I did something I didn't want to do, but I did it and I knew it was wrong to do. One snowy day two uncaring boys built a fort with one long sled in front and two circle sleds on the side. One threw a snowball at my friend, twice. So I took over and brushed the snow out of his eye, and while the two boys weren't looking I spoke up and said "You guys don't need that fort." Read more »

I love video games
Submitted by numberworks on Fri, 01/15/2010 - 4:41amI love video games. Not in a romantic way. I just really like them. I am good at puzzles and battling evil monsters. I can figure out codes and push or click buttons extremely fast. I do like going outside, but the controller calls to me! I even make my own games! I really love video games.
An Event of the Worst Sort
Submitted by Seashell on Thu, 01/14/2010 - 10:56pmI had seen my cat, Storm,
play with and bite the
Christmas tree lights
before that night.
And yesterday, I laughed
when Dad pointed out
the yellow glow in her mouth.
I want to travel through time
and snatch that laughter back.
And I want to unplug
those Christmas tree lights
so that the next event
would have never taken place.
My parents and I were talking,
about what I can’t recall,
when Something Not Right
caught our attention.
It was Storm.
She writhed and flipped,
attached to the lights
somehow; I thought
the cord was strangling her.
Dad jumped up. Read more »
Immaturity and Stereotypes, A Rant
Submitted by Circe on Thu, 01/14/2010 - 10:40pmI am tired of listening to sentences
that are half profanity,
because I do not understand how
swearing makes these immature
idiots feel more grown up.
They cannot spell,
employ proper grammar
or multiply decimals,
yet despite, or maybe
because
of this, they are
considered cool.
Since when is popularity
measured in how awful
your grades are?
These people defile the label
"Freshmen"
because we are the
clueless nobodies
who clog up the hallways
and smother our personalities
in conformity.
Supposedly.
Yet there are exceptions
and I hate that the fact Read more »
Waiting in a Fairytale
Submitted by megdempsey on Thu, 01/14/2010 - 9:28pm
I know to you it's nothing big
To lead me on, then loosen grips
To send me love and soothe my soul
While knowing nothing else shall grow
I know of course you set them high
Those expectations that I climb
To reach the top and take your hand
A promise bound in fiction lands
In foreign sights and fairy tales
Where princes know when love sets sail
And follows 'long as time ticks on
So fast the travel when hearts be fond
I sit and wait
I love, then hate
Frustration lurks as days go late
But hope remains in later dates
Confusion perks. I bite the bait Read more »
As Animal as Teacher
Submitted by dohertyj on Thu, 01/14/2010 - 8:02pmAs nice as a ladybug
fluttering around
As patient as a jaguar
never quick to pounce
As funny as a monkey
making me laugh when I'm down
As smart as a spider
knowing when to weave a web
As beautiful as a butterfly
Its colors stand out in the world
As animal As teacher
New Year's Eve Blast
Submitted by kgallagh on Thu, 01/14/2010 - 7:46pmOn New Year's Eve we go up to my dad's friend's house in Bakersfield. We go up around 12:00 in the afternoon. We have lots of fun because they have more snow than us and they have a big yard. They make a track of snow and jumps that we ride over with a four wheeler. We pull kids/teens around in it and tip over and it is really fun to watch a 47 year-old tip over in a sled. Read more »
Trapped
Submitted by bob bomb7 on Thu, 01/14/2010 - 7:43pmTrapped on the inside,
waiting to get free.
Wishing to escape,
while wanting to flee.
Lost and forsaken,
abandoned and untaken.
Broken and misused,
assaulted and accused.
Bound up by love
and tied down by care.
Beaten and abused
with a thousand blind eyes all a-glare.
The Storm: What a Beautiful Day
Submitted by Patty Lea on Thu, 01/14/2010 - 3:20pmThunder, Lightning
Pour, Pour, Pour
Come on rain, rain some more.
Like the teardrops from my eyes
My heart is roaring
I am fierce like the thunder I hear
Thunder, Lightning
Crash, Crash, Crash
I think my heart is oh so smashed
.......
The sun is shining
A rainbow appears
I am now over what I feared
If only
Submitted by Noahk on Thu, 01/14/2010 - 1:07pmSometimes
As I look at my white walls.
Tears streaming down my cheeks
I smile
And think of the little things.
Dancing in the rain
Watching her smile
As the drops fall softer
And a mist spreads across the air.
I think of the little things
Like watching him laugh
As we run down the sidewalk
Screaming in laughter
Not
Caring
What
Is
Happening.
And the world just keeps turning
And the time keeps going
And i see these memories fade
Like the mist
Like the Laughter
Like my tears.

Ball kicker.
Lionel Messi.
Maybe I should be
throwing a ball or
shooting a hoop,
but instead
cleats,
grass stained clothing
and goals.
Dribbling,
ducking,
dogging,
running fast,
and kicking,
determination
and teamwork,
the only way to win.
Practicing,
every single day.
Even if you fall.
You still go after the ball.
It's the only way.
Skater
Submitted by Cat Hayes on Thu, 01/14/2010 - 10:55amIce carvers.
Slip sliders.
Blade runners.
Who wants to be
gliding around
on slick ice?
Skates,
thick socks,
warm clothes,
skate bag,
gloves,
hot cocoa? Of course!
Figure eights,
jumps,
hockey stops.
Bend your knees,
lean forward,
push.
Don’t fall!
Balance, practice, grace.
Lacing up skates,
pumping,
pushing on the ice
with sharp blades.
Around you go! Jump
slide
glide
over the bump.
These Questions
Submitted by Usagi on Tue, 01/12/2010 - 7:59pmCaught up in my little world,
tangled in my web. We debate
late-night philosophy & we agree
it's useless, pointless, meaningless
in the end but them
what does it matter?
We get our kicks where we can.
& when we sign off
we return to our respective beds,
sit on the ends with our feet on the frames
& think about the future
& fear
& who we are
& who we do not want to be.
Lonely, these questions.
Lonelier, these answers.
Slyra in Silver Rain Woods
Submitted by amyd121 on Tue, 01/12/2010 - 2:39pmSlyra in Silver Rain Woods
by Sofia Collas
In Silver Rain Woods the night was silent. Fir trees towered the night sky. The only sound was the wind rustling the leaves of bushes and trees. The moon was bright in the night. In a fir tree there was a hollow. In that hollow an owlet was eating with her ma and pa. Read more »
Playing Goalie and Pressure
Submitted by cpelkey on Mon, 01/11/2010 - 10:08pmBecoming a hockey player at the age of five was nothing surprising for someone in my family since we all play hockey, yet becoming a goalie was a harder decision. Unlike other sports, such as soccer, where you can play goalie and positions in the field, in hockey you either play one or the other. This is because the equipment is quite expensive and a position like goalie requires a lot of time, work and concentration if you want to get good at it. Although I liked playing with my cousins at the forward position I decided to live a life between the pipes like my dad did. Read more »
