swimming in the river

The River

The River
flows smoothly across the land
winds around mountains
down the valleys
and ends in the ocean.
I stand on the bank
and slowly wade in
the cold water surrounds my body.
Consuming more of me as I go in deeper.
The water numbs my body as i go under
Cold water
rushing over me
consuming me
numbing me
carrying a part of me with it
down the flowing current
washed away
gone forever.
Cold water
consuming me
washing the bad away.
