The childhood games; you and I jumproping on the school pavement, playing hopscotch on the sidewalk in front of the bar-ahh, it brought my mind back to bliss for a moment, not a long moment, but enough time to barely save my mind from insanity.

I couldn’t take it anymore. I jumped up and grabbed my jacket. I ignored Mom, who was shouting at me from maybe a foot away, and Dad, who was yelling at me from the kitchen. I stepped over Dad’s pit bull and ran outside.
The garbage truck was out in front, and to my relief it was a familiar face throwing trash bags into the compactor.
