Submitted by artisticthoughts on Mon, 10/03/2011 - 4:44pmThe Life of an Oak Seed...
Submitted by numberworks on Fri, 09/30/2011 - 5:09am
The mother oak so tall and wide…
bears one single oak seed…
A slight breeze enters the forest…
Mother oak’s branches rustle in the breeze…
The single oak seed falls silently down…
As it hits the forest floor…
it catches the attention of a squirrel…
The little creature scurries over… Read more »
Running Through a Field of Wildflowers
Submitted by annabcb on Wed, 09/28/2011 - 6:47pmLiving in Vermont means
hearing geese fly over head,
boiling sap all day and having homemade maple syrup the next morning
and watching a deer wander through my backyard.
Living in Vermont means
watching the stars come out at night,
waking up to fog in the air and dew drops sitting in the grass
and climbing trees in the lazy afternoon warmth.
Living in Vermont means
swimming at a lake,
catching snowflakes on my tongue
and eating crab apples. Read more »
A Blue and Black Feather
Submitted by lillianmcb on Wed, 09/28/2011 - 5:23pmA blue and black feather
A blue and black feather
floats through the air,
landing on the ground,
floating up when the wind picks up,
landing back down after the wind slows down.
It twirls and swirls,
flipping and floating
across the quiet sky.
For a while I watch,
thinking of where that feather came from,
then suddenly,
it disappears, out of my sight, Read more »
Who She Is
Submitted by Barrel Racer Extreme on Tue, 09/27/2011 - 8:26pmNever taking more than needed,
always taking less than should.
Although she never asks for much,
sometimes wishes she could.
Low on faith, hope running out
her positive thoughts
soon turn to doubts.
A smile found means ten hidden tears
and down her face
her make-up smears.
All her attempts, taken to her grave.
Claiming she's not fearless
she calls it brave.
She watches as everything falls down the drain, Read more »

New heartfelt truths
Alliances are forged
And they are never broken
Even with the miles streching them
Even in the short time together
Always with me will be your suport
And never shall we forget
Of the few days we had
Of the memories that draw us together
Forever now we are family
Forever now we are the leaders
Slippery, Slimy, and Covered in a Tasty Green Sauce
Submitted by Lilly.Cadow on Fri, 09/23/2011 - 6:06pm
It was a beautiful Parisian night. The Eiffel Tower was lit in the sky and the French drivers whizzed by. My mom and I had just left the movie theatre where we had watched Ratatouille in English with French subtitles. Mom wanted to take me to dinner on this special night. Read more »

Clarity
Submitted by megdempsey on Fri, 09/23/2011 - 10:16am
My vision has been cleared these past few days
I see the blemishes and shudder
I question why I walked upon this desolate, scarred ground for so long
There is no longer a magnetizing devotion pulling me toward what I once thought was my future
Instead, I see how much has changed
Or has it?
Was I simply blinded by my own desperate hopes that I dared not look upon the prideful and condescending gaze?
I suppose every one is changing now Read more »
The First Time I Ever Died
Submitted by Vazrtre on Thu, 09/22/2011 - 5:04pm
It was a curious feeling, like falling into a deep sleep.
The edges of the world blurred and swirled together like a big melting pot of color.
The pain in my side was fading, diminishing in intensity.
I struggled against the lull of gentle oblivion.
There was something I had to do, someone I had to protect.
I fell towards the light.
It was bright all around, like a room upon waking.
The sky was bright.
I floated into its embrace.
The clouds were full and puffy white.
I was welcome there, I knew.
My time had come, and it was here I could stay forever.
But only if I wished it so.
I had a choice for I am not of man.
I could not leave the living world behind.
Someone needed me.
I went back.
The Sea Turtle
Submitted by graceccb on Thu, 09/22/2011 - 4:25pm
The Sea Turtle
The first time I laid eyes on you
gliding softly through the coral reef
you saw me at three peering through the glass in disbelief
I was enchanted
and you put on a show a synchronized swimmer in a shell
Watching you soaring effortlessly
through the tide I was mesmerized by your gleaming eyes Read more »
Flying on Two Wheels
Submitted by lincolnpcb on Thu, 09/22/2011 - 8:44amI stood on a grassy field,
staring down a hill.
Leaning on the ground was my bike,
a beast I had yet to tame.
With the help of my parents,
I slowly climbed up onto it.
The hill seemed so long.
I pushed one pedal,
and I was flying on two wheels.
Such an amazing experince,
I coast to the bottom of the hill,
and stop, the thrill of it still pulsing through my veins.
Frightening First Flight
Submitted by jarekhcb on Thu, 09/22/2011 - 8:34amI have
seen many people before me
do what I am about to do.
Final check, all systems go.
Right gear, breaks work,
plenty of adrenalin.
Pushing off,
gaining speed,
and before I know it,
in flight. Read more »
My First....
Submitted by NickieP13 on Wed, 09/21/2011 - 10:44amMy heart pounds,
the ball hits the ground.
My mind races,
and sweat trickles down my face.
I have yet to do a thing,
but the crowd begins to sing.
As the ball speeds twoards me,
pouncing over the girls like a flee.
Quick! I think, arms out,
I WILL CATCH THAT BALL WITHOUT A DOUBT!
Everyone screams my name,
as I block a goal in my first game.
My first game just two weeks ago,
I have a long way to go.
If I am to make my team proud, Read more »
