I couldn’t see the coming storm.
When did the temperature start to drop?
The frightful chills have ceased to stop.
When did the rain begin to fall? Read more »

My life is like a tree
Submitted by The doctor on Thu, 05/16/2013 - 3:54pmMy life is like a tree.
It stands tall
with a strong trunk
holding it up.
My life is like a tree.
It has long brenches
reaching uo to the
other parts or the world.
My life is like a tree.
I wither somedays
and bloom others.
My life is like a tree.
It has emerald green

Argument
Submitted by Isyp on Wed, 05/01/2013 - 7:06pmIt was around 2:30, and I was in French class when I got in an argument with my friend about something very stupid.
“Jordan, I’m 100% sure that I’m right. I know that we’re playing war, but it’s a modified version of war because we’re supposed to be practicing our numbers in French.” I told my friend, Jordan.
“Isy, I know we’re supposed to be practicing our numbers. I’m not dumb. We’re in French class. But we’re playing war. You don’t put down two cards in war even if it is a modified version.” Jordan said back. Read more »

Excerpt of a Prison Boy
Submitted by Grace L on Tue, 04/30/2013 - 2:35pm
Before I begin the long and arduous task of recording what my stay here in this monotonous yet desolate place, there is one thing that I must explain. I am calling today day one because when I woke up this morning, something was different. It felt as if today was going to be the start of a new, better and brighter era, even though I am still a trapped here. I have been here a long time, yet I cannot fully fathom that period of time. My hope is that one day, somewhere in the future, another person will find this journal and read it and that they will proceed to change our society for the greater good. Read more »
Too Many Shoes
Submitted by piepie66 on Sun, 04/28/2013 - 6:37pmThe eeriness of a murder's home,
But this is the home of souls.
Long,
Forgotten,
Souls
That no longer deserve to be forgotten.
The air is thick of not death,
Or disease,
But of decay.
The decay of memories.
These are memories of children,
Children in each and everyone of them
As they were slaughtered by the cat,
By the man with the threatening voice
And bitter beliefs.
So many,
Too many
Didn't see the next day,
The new day.
We gaze upon this memoir,
The pieces of scrap fabric,
This assortment of foot wear.
All different sizes and shapes,
Yet these soles have one thing in common,
Their owners did not deserve to die.
Supernatural
Submitted by torchydoc_903 on Tue, 04/16/2013 - 10:14amIt was close. Dangerously close. Hiding in the shadows of the woods. With every step it comes closer. Through the the woods I run at a breathtaking pace. Daring not to stop. Over the roots, under branches. I stop to a halt at the ledge of the cliff. Under was a rushing river, ragged rocks popping up at times. Taking out my knife, I slowly turn around. In a blur the werewolf leaps onto me, pushing me backwards onto the ground. It’s fangs right in front of me. Each tooth (including the fangs) was as sharp as a needle's tip. Drool dripping onto my face every living second. I try to move, but it’s bone crushing grip on my hands forces me not to. I use my feet to kick the beast off of me. But before I could get up, it leaps onto me again at an even faster speed. Before I could stab it, it’s fangs sink into my neck halfway. I could feel the blood dripping onto the ground. As I stab it, the werewolf disintegrates into a pile of ashes. I quickly rummage through my pack, trying to find a roll of gauze or something to stop the bleeding. After a few agonizing moments of bandaging the wound, I start heading back to the cabin. Tales from the Cabinets
Submitted by R2G6 on Fri, 04/12/2013 - 9:14am
Once, there was a fair, peaceful kingdom. With everybody from peanut butter peasants, to Raisan Royalty. Everyone got along, until one day, the Junkys came into town.
The Junkys were an army of raiders, dripping with grease and excess oils. There were doughnuts, snack foods, chips, and gummy worms, and they charged in, taking over the south part of the cabinets. They walked all around, spreading their preservatives all over, and spraying the townspeople with pesticides. Read more »
Dislike
Submitted by Isyp on Thu, 04/11/2013 - 9:35amI strongly dislike people who bond children to labor. They take advantage of them by making them work all day with no breaks, and they don’t even pay them if the children’s families have a debt to pay off. All the money the children make for whatever they’re doing, goes to their master. They are malnourished and only get enough water to survive. They’re in dirty conditions, and almost never have a chance to wash off. The masters will punish the children by hitting them with a whip, or locking them up somewhere for 1 or more days without water or food. If they do bad work, the masters might not feed them for a day or give them any water. The people who do this, separate children from their family for sometimes a lifetime. The children never get to experience freedom, or even fun. Some children go without hope for their entire life. I don’t understand why people do this, and even if they don’t have any other option whatsoever, why they don’t pay the children the same thing they would pay adults, and with health care benefits. I hope that in my life I won’t turn into one of these people because I don’t want to exploit children like they do.

My Ultimate Vacation
Submitted by pschaarschmidt on Tue, 04/09/2013 - 8:27pm
My favorite vacation would be going to six different NHL hockey games. I would go up and down the east coast going to hockey games and exploring all the cities. It would be epic. Its the dream vacation for me. I would go to the hockey game in Boston .
I would wake up and drive to Montreal for the day. That night I would go to a Canadiens game. The next morning I would fly out of Montreal and go to Boston and see a Bruins game. We will go to the museum . The next day we will rent a car and drive to Washington D.C.
We would go to some of the monuments and then go to a Capitals game that night. Since we are already in the Nation’s Capitol, we can see the White House. Maybe the President will be home and I can ask him to hook me up with some good tickets to the next game. When I go to the games, I will do my best to get as many autographs that I can. That night I will drive back to the hotel and get room service to bring me a pizza.
The next morning, I will drive to Florida and check out a Panther’s game. It would be even cooler if the Capitals were playing the Panthers that way I could ride the team plane and not have to drive so far. After the game, I just head to the beach and catch some rays and I don’t mean stingrays. It would be nice to play a volleyball game and and flex my muscles. Read more »

What disgusts this sixth grade girl
Submitted by Grace L on Tue, 04/09/2013 - 7:04pmI dislike lazy people. People who aren’t willing to work hard and sit around doing nothing. I guess that includes procrastination but I won’t be focusing on that. Why aren’t they willing to? If our society is to be as perfect as it can be, everyone needs to contribute. It can’t just be one or two people working their butts off and everyone else reluctantly following them. It just can’t be if we want things to work. Even evil villains actually try. They spend time plotting and doing research on their weapons or the location of their attack. It disgusts me how some people pretend that they’re hurt or injured just to receive unemployment benefits from the government. This is one, dishonest and two, shows just how lazy people are. I wonder if they’re satisfied, if they ever feel guilty about what they’re doing.
Child Labor

Why not raise some money now?
Come and do a favor.

Which we all see through day.
Please just help us fight.
Shadowy figures
Submitted by Misty on Sun, 04/07/2013 - 9:30pm
I trudged slowly home from school. It had been an especially long day, what with presentations and tests and friend drama. I walked up my driveway, then up my steps. I swung open the door and dropped my backpack to the floor with a thud. The door closed behind me and I walked into the kitchen, where my parents usually sat, waiting for me when I got home. When I walked into the room, it was eerily silent. “Mom?” I called, looking around for a note. None, I thought with a sigh. i looked at the calendar, but it was empty also. I walked upstairs, searching each room. “MOM! DAD?!” I was shouting now. Where are they? I grumbled. “This better not be a trick, or so help me....” I growled and walked into my room, picking up my phone. I dialed my dad’s number first, then sat down on the bed and waited. Read more »

My Dislike
Submitted by piepie66 on Sun, 04/07/2013 - 9:19pmI dislike humans,
We are selfish, arrogant animals.
We find hate in one another,
When we are the same species.
We are killing the earth that has sustained us,
Made us.
Humans could be so much
More.
But, we aren't.
We don't try.
Power is human need,
Not kindness,
Nor generosity.
Rudeness is the new normal,
And that goes for everyone.
What has become of us?
Or should I ask,
Why do we let,
And have ever let ourselves,
Go?
My Own Rubik's Cube
Submitted by piepie66 on Sun, 04/07/2013 - 9:11pmYou
The rubik's cube I try to solve,
But every new day you bring me more,
Mystery.
Every twist and turn you surprise me,
Block me,
Confuse me.
Your colorful personality stands out,
Though many people have tried to
Solve you,
I think I have figured you out.
I use to be stuck
On your mystery turn.
Which way was right?
Should I peruse,
Or just give up?
But I will tell you what,
I found the right path.

Never Changing Limbo
Submitted by piepie66 on Sun, 04/07/2013 - 9:02pmHave you ever felt
Stuck.
You want to cry,
But no tears come
And you try to force them,
But they are gone.
You sit there
Stuck,
And unwilling to just go on.
But,
You have to be strong,
For mother, or father,
Anyone there.
Time seems unchanging,
Because the only thing changing
Is you.
I know you
Have had this feeling.
It takes everything in you
To control it.

Never Upheld
Submitted by piepie66 on Sun, 04/07/2013 - 8:55pmI promised to love you,
To treat you like my sister,
But we broke that.
I needed you,
I promised that.
I no longer do
And that hurts my heart.
Your gone now,
Far away from me.
Could you come back?
Should I even ask that question?
No,
Because we broke a promise
That could never be upheld.

Choose To Love Beyond Anything Else
Submitted by piepie66 on Sun, 04/07/2013 - 8:50pmUntil death shall part with us,
Six words is just one story.
Each line is its own tale.
Think of me now when falling,
Because human beings are not kind.
The world as it dies today,
I feel like straying away now,
I am forever in the past.
Six words can tell a story.
Six words can tell my tale.
So listen closely to every word,
And make sure you won't fail.

Dislike
Submitted by Susan0614 on Fri, 03/22/2013 - 8:36pmI just can not stand the sound of screeching. It makes my ears ring, like a cowbell on a cat catching a bird. My eyes scrunch up, like an old piece of paper. I grind my teeth so hard they hurt. And, last but not least, I through a pillow, or something, at whatever, or whoever is screeching. That is what I greatly dislike.

Day without phone
Submitted by Susan0614 on Fri, 03/22/2013 - 8:23pmI walked to school, tugging at my pocket every five seconds even though my phone was gone. My younger brother sat on it. He cracked the screen. As soon I got to school, I used the phone in the main office. After school, I had soccer. Music, I thought, I need music. After soccer, my mom picked me up. After that, I turned on the television. Ads all about phones. I slept, And the next day, I forgot all about it.

The Historical Event of 1926
Submitted by Grace L on Fri, 03/22/2013 - 2:07pmThe sun shined down on the boy. Wiping his sweaty forehead with a rag, he looked down from the building. The land surrounding the construction were speckled with buildings that were dwarfed by the giant church. A few trees were clustered at the front of the church. Some of the workers who worked on the lower parts of the church were able to climb down before the lunch break ended and enjoy their lunch under the trees which were able to shade them from the sun. The boy didn’t consider them lucky. He enjoyed climbing up to the top, looking at everything from God’s view, feeling the cool breeze that sometimes came in the summer, and most importantly, being free. Read more »
