The Saints Are Coming

The crowd begins to cheer
Guitar slowly fades in
As soft as a fairy
The drummer starts the high hat
Ticking like a clock

The chord changes
Slightly stronger this time
Sounds almost like a piano
Perhaps it is

One of the vocalists
Begins the lyrics
I don't appreciate
The tone of his voice

The crowd cheers
I don't see what's so great
About his voice

A slight pause
And then the master
Takes the mic

Thank God

His voice is soft and familiar
Like a veteran balladeer
Perfected by years of work

The drummer pounds on his tools
Signaling a change
And the guitar takes over

And once again
The inexperienced one
Hacks out more lyrics

They continue
The crowd roars

I'm not sure what the song means

Let the literary decipherers
Decide
