Falling Angels
Submitted by Emma21 on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 12:17pmSnow flakes falling slowly.
Snowball fights all around
Almost getting hit.
Put the key in, turned it on
Riding really fast
Kicking snow up behind me
curving all around.
Taking risks I want to take
Watching the snow plow.
Can't wait until I get home
Freezing my toes off.
Park my snowmobile and leave.
Walk into my house
Warming up hot chocolate
Taking little sips.
Watch as the snow fades away
Waiting for next year.
Snow Falling
Submitted by Lilschemy23 on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 12:12pmI put my snow pants as I think about the snow.
I put on my jacket, my boots and my gloves as a get ready to go outside.
I get on a scarf and some earmuffs as I walk out the door.
The snow is falling oh so fast. I look around and I can't see anything.
I run through the snow. As I fall backwards and I see little snow puffs.
I look up toward the sky,and stick out my tongue and let them melt away. As I get up I'll think about what I'll do next time I'm outside.
A Snow Day
Submitted by squiss on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 12:12pmThe alarm clock wakes me
And I am slow to get up
Until I realize
That there would be snow
I leap out of bed
And peer out my window
But all I see
Is a sea of white
I zoom down the staircase
To be greeted by the radio
Stating that the entire county
Had a snow day
Yippee!
A snow day
One full day of
Carefree winter fun
I have endless options
Sledding
Snowball fights
Or just enjoying the day off
That's an easy choice
I'm going outside
To the boundless land of
The snow
I jump into my jacket
Pull on some skipants
Leap into my boots
And I'm out the door
I'll dig myself a tunnel
Build a snow fort
Sculpt some snowballs
Or just sit and enjoy it all
After romping outside
For awhile
It's time to go inside
For a mug of hot chocolate
I slurp for some time
But I start to get restless
That means I'm going
To head outside again!
This time my dad is with me
So it's time for a fight
I poke my head out
Of my fort
There he is
Aim... Read more »
Winter
Submitted by Rachel Woodward on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 12:07pmThe first winter morning is always the best!! You wake up and go outside to smell the cold winter air. Then, you get dressed to go outside and play in the snow. Time flies and you don't know how long it's been so you go inside for a cup of hot cocoa. When the cup all gone you head back out for a snowball fight. When the fights all over you go back in for dinner and then the days all over.
winter
Submitted by keith on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 12:04pmIn the winter I like to go snowmobiling. I also like to go snowboarding and sledding. I like going to a big hill with my sled and build a jump about one foot high. It's really fun! Nearby, there's a road that is downhill in a cemetery and it's covered with ice in the winter. It's fun going down it. That's why I like winter.
Winter
Submitted by loveless on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 12:03pmWinter's coming was to fast
It's time to get out your winter clothes
No more sorts or t-shirts
The sleds have to come out
Every time the snow falls
Remember, Christmas is coming
Valentines Day Storm
Submitted by Mischanker on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 12:01pmBack when we had the Valentine's day storm, me and my neighbors friends were out in the snow all day. We started off with pulling each other around on the snowmobile in the fields. We did that for about three hours. After that we decided to go in and eat lunch and have hot choclate. We suited up and we went back into the blizzard, next was sledding. This was probably my favorite part. I took my dad's big tractor and made a huge jump. We used the snowmobile to make a track down the hill; we got so much speed off from the hill when we hit the jump we went flying. Eventually, that hill got boring, so we moved on to another hill across the road. The next hill was even steeper. This all ended with making an ice skating rink out behind our houses. We all had a lot of fun that day, snowmobiling, sledding and skating. Hopefully, this year we will be able to do the same.
Beautiful
Submitted by Shirley1 on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 11:55amWalking outdside, smelling and looking. Just loving the way it feels. What do I love you may be wondering.
I love how the snow sparkels on the ground, no foot prints around... all is silent. You breath out and then back in smelling the fresh morning. I don't know why but I just love it all. When it snows you can see the patterns of the flakes, dancing around you. I feel the cold on my face and take it all in. The trees lightly covered with snow. I don't want to ruin the soft flakes that lay on the ground. Slurp! I take a tiny sip of hot cocoa and warm fills my body from head to toes. I'm all bundled up, and yet I'm still cold. Suddenly, the time comes where I must break through that soft wonderful surface. But, I still love it all.
What do I love you may be wondering. I love that beautiful feeling of a cold winter morning.

The Snowstorm
Submitted by pimpdaddy on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 11:46am On Valentine's Day of 2007 I woke up, looked outside and there was two feet of snow on the ground. I went to the kitchen and ate breakfast, then I got dressed. I went outside and shoveled off the steps, then I shoveled the sidewalk.
By the time I was done, the sidewalk was covered with snow again. I had to reshovel the steps, and started to reshovel the sidewalk. When I was about halfway done, it finally stopped snowing. I finished shoveling the sidewalk and went back inside. I took off my coat and made myself a cup of hot chocolate. WhenI got done with that, I went back to bed. That is how my Valentine's Day of 2007 went.
Skiing Stories
Submitted by DJBEAYON on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 10:42amMy favorite thing about winter is finally being able to ski again. Skiing is one of my favorite things to do, but sincyou can only ski in the winter my friend Mike and I are very excited when it comes around. We ski mainly at Pico. The winter story
Submitted by Rexty24 on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 10:31am One winter I was plowing snow off my garden because it was icy. My dad got his plow on his ATV and put his studded and chained tires on and then headed to the ice-coverd garden.
Then, he was plowing the snow of the garden and then it happened. My dad did not see me playing on the snow pile that he was plowing into. Then, he was coming right at the pile with a lot of snow and he plowed the snow right on top of me and than I was stuck in the snow. So, I yelled to him HELP! HELP! and at first he did not hear me. So I yelled again HELP DAD! and finlly he heard me. So, then he came over with the ATV and took the shovel that was stuck in the snow beside me and he dug me out of the snow.
That was how I got stuck in a lot of snow. After my dad was done we went ice skating on the garden.
A Perfect Morning For Skiing
Submitted by REDNECK2 on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 10:30amThe sun barely peeking over the hill glistening on the snow, the sound of my boots squeaking on the feashly groomed snow. As I lock my boots in my skis I hear the slight rumble of the chair lift moving around the machine. As I get on the snow dusted seats of the chair I feel a slight breeze coming down of the hill. A perfect day for skiing!!!

winters beauty
Submitted by spongebob_x0x0 on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 10:28am I looked out the window one late, late night, and saw snow slowly and softly falling to the ground. The first snow! The first snow was one of my favorite times of the year. It was so beautiful.I sat there almost the whole just watching the snow keep gently falling and landing on the ground.
The next morning I put some warm clothes on, made some hot cocoa, and sat on the porch. I looked at the snow glistening in the sunlight. I took a sip of my hot cocoa and smiled. I think it's one of the most beautiful things to look out the door and see the sun shining on the snow, hearing the birds chirp, and most of all to smell that wintery smell of cold. It was the best day ever.
The Valitine Day Storm

the feeling of winter
Submitted by josiethegreat312 on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 10:16amsnow, twirling down, through the air, wind blowing it in your face, draging your beautiful christmas tree through the sparkeling snow piled up to make a cold blanket laying on the frozen ground, making traks. finally getting to the big warm house waiting for you, lit up with white lights for the holiday. you get inside going through the harsh cold winter into the warm gentle feeling of home.family members soround you.th yelling and exitement of children running toward you at full speed to help put up the christmas tree. after the christmas tree is put up and the presents are under it, it's time for dinner. everyone sits down to have the wounderful feast that was prepared, ham, mashed potatoes, salad, pie, everything! we all hold hands close our eyes, and think about the people who couldn't be there. The War is Done
Submitted by Patti Magoon on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 9:38amI stared blankly out the school window, listening to Mrs. Brown’s monotonous drone about something or other. Snow was dragged earthwards from low-lying clouds. I wondered if it was snowing over in Germany, where the War was. In my father's last letter, he had mentioned a ceasefire for Christmas, or Weihnachten in German. My older brother, James, had explained that this was when they stopped using their weapons for a little while. It gave me great comfort to know that my father would get through Christmas. I was counting the months until he was discharged. His term was until 1920, as he had signed up for three years. There were a little over two years left. It was November 10th, and the snow was plentiful. Read more »

A Snowflake's Tale
Submitted by tictac_joey on Thu, 11/06/2008 - 11:31pmThis cold day in winter, windy and bitter
Snowflakes softly drift down from the sky
To cover completely in a white blanket
The rugged mountain and town nearby.
One snowflake falls from a dark cloud
To join its counterparts below
It knows it must follow the wind
But knows not where that wind will go.
It begins over a mountain, hovering high
Floating above people cruising on skis
While others sit in lifts, and trees
Extend as far as the eye can see.
It flies down the mountains, bouncing along
Passing over snowshoers, wolves, and a bear
Entering the town, it glides toward a hill
With neither a thought nor a single care.
The hill is packed with small children
Laughing, playing, and having fun
Some sled down the hill, racing and chasing
While others catch snowflakes on their tongue.
The snowflake soars over a cluster of green
Where people drag trunks under their arms
These people pay, and then drive away
With their new tree from a Christmas tree farm. Read more »

Winter Comes
Submitted by lovetowrite on Thu, 11/06/2008 - 10:38pmWinter comes, and winter goes,
Every year, but sometimes slow
As we wait, woolens come out,
And the first frost brings children's shouts
Winter comes and winter goes,
Every year, but sometimes slow
The snow grows deeper every day,
And boots come out, there to stay.
Winter comes, and winter goes,
Every year, but sometimes slow
We sled down powdery hills,
And drink hot chocolate to combat chills.
Winter comes, and winter goes,
Every year, but sometimes slow
Santa Claus calls, bringing gifts in the night,
And the new year begins to take flight.
Winter comes, and winter goes,
Every year, but sometimes slow
We all think it will never end,
And despair that spring will never turn the bend.
Winter comes, and winter goes,
Every year, but sometimes slow
Now the snow has turned to mud,
And leaves on trees once again start to bud.
Winter comes, and winter goes,
For how long, no one knows.
Winter Snow
Submitted by mellis on Thu, 11/06/2008 - 9:07pmWhy does winter come?
Why does winter go?
It has probably something to do with the winter snow.
Easy come.
Easy go.
Maybe it might snow tomrrow.
The atmosphere is changing.
While the cloulds are moving in.
The frost is gleaming on the cars windshield.
I head for outdoors.
With such a great hurry.
Taking one step I fall to the ground.
While I look around I start to feel chilly.
I count to 3 holding my breath.
Then I head indoors for a long winter's nap.
Winter Poem
Submitted by Mmank on Thu, 11/06/2008 - 7:36pmThe snow falls quickly to the ground,
Without making a single sound.
Each little snowflake is unique,
Small, white, frozen and sleek.
The snow gathers in thick, fluffy piles,
Giving the children lots of smiles.
The kids decide to break the rules,
By running outside and skipping school.

The Perfect Christmas tree
Submitted by nick cool on Thu, 11/06/2008 - 5:23pmI was almost December in Cheyenne, and already the snow was too deep for easy walking. Wearing snowshoes was the only convenient way to gt around. Oscar was tired of strapping on his snowshoes every time he ventured outdoors and tired, too, of having to wear so many layers to stay warm, but he knew he must if he was ever going to find the family Christmas tree. It was two o’clock in the afternoon, so Oscar knew he had just enough time to find the tree and get home before nightfall. The going was tough, even with snowshoes, but he trudged on to the place where he had found the perfect tree last year. When he arrived he saw that all of the trees had been logged, and all that was left were a few trees too tiny or too bare to be used for Christmas. Oscar knew another place a couple of miles away. He figured he could just make it there and back before dark. Oscar easily found the perfect tree, cut it down and began to drag it home. Read more »
