HAUNTED PATH By Shelley Stone

It was early Monday morning. I got up and went to get a drink of water. But when I went down stairs, I heard a noise I’ve never heard before. I went into my mother’s room to wake her up because I also heard a knocking of pans onto the ground. But when I went in there, she wasn’t there. Well, she was but when I went over to her because I thought she was still sleeping, I rolled her over and I saw that her eyes were missing and the sockets were bleeding. I screamed so loud I woke up my brother, Ryker.

“Cat, what’s the problem?” Ryker asked very politely.

“S-s-she’s dead.” I stuttered. I came in here to wake her up, but when I rolled her over I saw that.”

“Mom sleeping? What’s so scary about that?”

“No. You don’t understand. I would tell you, b-b-but I’d rather show you.”

“Okay? What?”

I brought him over to Mom’s bedside and I showed him.
