See me as I see the sea.

As I step forward, the wet salt licks my feet.

I take another step, the water wading at my knees.

The white sand in the water brushed at my leg.

As a shell washes up on the packed sand to escape the pull of the sea like me.

But alas it was not meant to be, wave comes and sweeps me off my feet and we both find ourselves back in the water.

With the waves of salt licking my feet and sand scrubbing my legs like pumice.

Leaf of Light

Imagine a leaf in the morning dew.

Green and vibrant but yet elegant and soft with a vibrant green glow.

As the seasons pass the dew stops and turns to frost as the world twists to a new shade of white.

The leaf suffocates under the blanket of snow and holds its breath.

But as the world twists again ringing out the snow like a old cloth. The leaf takes its last breath, blows away in the morning sunrise and disintegrates on the wind.

The journey of that leaf is over.

But as a bud grows where the leaf once basked in the summer sun. a new leaf will take a risk and soak in the sun before the crisp winters of Vermont descends once again.

Fear

Fear...

It hides in the shadows.

Waiting for the next victim to pass,

spreading fear in one’s heart like a disease.

Engulfing humanity in darkness.

You can never get rid of fear,

But you can rise above it.

Fright

Fright is to be trifled with,

but be weary

because fright knows your name,

and will come back.

Like a blanket of darkness over you.

For The Free

“Dark Rights”

I am black, yes. But inside I am white.

When I walk along the sidewalk the stares from the white, in disgust, bore a hole in me.

But in them, they are black and I'm white. We are equal, just except that.

Open your eyes, this is what a black man looks like and a white man looks like.

Look beyond our color, beyond our hair, and beyond our clothes and you will see.

We have walked the earth as two, but let's walk the world together. Just accept we are the same, I have.
“The Four”

For the right of blacks, we will sit in this diner.

For the blacks that are cast aside.

For the brave to prove we are equal.

For the free and unemployed.

We will sit at this white diner, as a symbol that we are equal.

That even if you feel helpless, and powerless you are not.

Life Is Like A River

Life is a river.
A river of destiny.
You as a human being running  down the stream as water.
You carve at the banks forming your life and making new paths for others to follow.
However, you can't stop the current.
Just like you can't stop time.
You can't prevent others around you from eventually drying up.
For this, this is life.
Life, all life must end.
And when for death comes,
it's like a drought, bone dry.
And without water there is no life.
