Silent Passings

A man walks into the store with a strut

As I looked at him with my mutt

He walked up to me and raised his arms high, as if to sign

He waved his hands around in circle to ask how the big game had gone,

As I watched I couldn’t help but yawn

Then I moved my whole body as if I was an inflatable tube man to tell him we won,

He looked at me with a gaze

As I gave one final nod and walked our separate ways.

I watched and returned to him with a mime,

To Tell or Not to Tell

She looks across the candlelit dinner

The man across from her smiles

She looks at his smile and notices something black

Something in his teeth

It looks like a piece of the salad he ordered

Probably a piece of lettuce

She looks at him and wonders whether to say something or not

As he goes on and on talking about God knows what

She can’t help but sit there and look at the dreadful thing in his teeth

She watches him, hoping in some way he will notice so she doesn’t have to say anything

She tries to give a subtle smile to what he was talking about

Trying not to be distracted by the piece of food in his teeth

Finally he sips his drink, the food no longer there as he asks a question

She answers immediately and says “teeth”

With a confused look he just sits there and laughs as they continue with their dinner

The Parrot or the Fish

The Parrot or the Fish

Minute 5:  I run in; it’s starting, the old pet store is closing down and there are only 2 pets left, a fish and a parrot.  I can only buy one.

Minute 4:  I stand there in awe at the two, not sure which one to buy.  The fish is 10 dollars, and the parrot is 20. I have 30 dollars.

Minute 3:  I reach for the bird and it pecks at me and squeaks, I was unimpressed.  I reach to touch the fish, it bites my finger.

Minute 2:  Unsure of what to do, because both seem to be bad, I grab the parrot. Only, I didn’t realize that the cage was left open, and it flies away.

Minute 1:  I grab the fish, only to realize after buying it that it had died after biting me.

Minute 0:  I walk home alone in disappointment... not sure whether it was because I had lost the parrot and the fish, or because I had lost the best store I knew.

Pineapple

Pineapple
To the fridge I went, to see what was to eat

I opened the door and a rush of air went up my shirt

I looked around for something sweet

All I could find though, was a dumb pineapple sitting there.
I closed the door and lie down on the couch for a rest

My eyes were closed  and all I could see

Was me and 5 cyclist riding down the coast out west

I was riding and riding when all of a sudden….
Five hundred red balloon went up and away,

Until all were lost in the sun

I turned to my side and I saw with dismay

All the others turn into beetles and take off and fly.
I kept riding….
Ahead I saw a huge pineapple coming over the ridge

With Persephone holding the reins

I woke up in a panic, and went to the fridge

By now my mind was going out of control.

When I opened the door and saw that it was gone.
