The Roses

I wish
I were like
my neighbors roses.

Dappled by the sunrise
in hues of
pink, orange, yellow
and red.

Blooming beautifully,
for everyone to see.
Bright, proud,
and adored by all.

I am too grey
and masculine
in my ways.

I am
more like
the Morning Glory.

Rich yet dark.
Marvelous in its
morning glory
but
dead at night.

I visit
my neighbors roses
everyday.

To breathe in
their fragrance.
To be intoxicated
by the taste .
To be high on their vibrance
like it might
rub off
on me.

Today
I walked past
the roses
and there was
no smell.

Almost as if
they had gone stale.
As if
they were no longer
young maidens
but old hags.

Had they turned into me?
A non beautiful

The Meaning of Life

I wanted to find the meaning of life,
so I wrote a poem.

I wanted to find the meaning of life,
so I lived as a hermit by the sea.

I wanted to find the meaning of life,
so I killed a man.

I wanted to find the meaning of life,
so I fell in love.

I wanted to find the meaning of life,
so I studied the stars and called them by name.

I wanted to find the meaning of life,
so I wished for the cloths of heaven.

I finally found the meaning of life
so here it is:

"Those who seek, will not find."

The World Wants

Snoopy’s obsessed with his French girls, and Clario wants Sofia. Jane pines for Bingley, and Trump always needs more. Gandhi strove for peace, Eve a fruit. Slaves want freedom, and birds need wings. Lucy chases Schroder and Romeo loves Juliet. The ocean needs a shore and a shore needs the ocean. The hills need the valley and the valley needs the hills. We need the world but the world doesn’t need us. We want space but space doesn’t want us. We need each other but we push each other away. Killers bring Death but Death is their downfall. Mirrors show reality but reality shatters. Poets need words and words are made for them. We want what we can’t have and take for granted what we do. We come together only to break, and break only to come together. Time tears and time heals. We search for the truth but we lie. We live only to die. We laugh only to cry and cry only to laugh. We live only to die, we live only to die.

The Egyptian Woman

The Egyptain Woman stands tall.
                 Jewles on her throat
                 and jewels in her hands.

The Egyptain Woman's not small.
                 she is a command
and she commands those in charge.

The Egyptain Woman's a call.
          to rise up from society
and to be better than them all.

The Egyptain Woman's is all
              that is fierce and true
             and beautiful and new.

It's a Waste of Time

It's a waste of time,
I say, as I walk to the door.

It's a waste of time,
I say, when I meet your eyes.

It's a waste of time,
I scream inside my mind.

It's a waste of time,
I say, as we cross that line.

The Sea

Long ago,
there was only the Sea,
and her daughters,
and the sky above.

Before the Sea had a shore.
Before the land met the sun.
Before Her language was sought,
and new ones found.

Before Her loves were lost.
Before the land - dwellers walked.
Before they turned on Her,
and passed Her on.

Before She hardened her heart.
Before She launched her storms.
Before She swore allegiance,
to no one evermore.

Long Ago,
there was only the Sea,
and her daughters,
and the sky above.
