When I was quite young and you were still old,
The thunder would roar and the lightening would zap.
You told me it was just a performance, a story being told-
That the lightening would tell and the thunder would clap.
From then on I knew not to fear the storms
But to feel entertained and treated for such a show.
But now you are gone and I’m still scared in these dorms
The storms have become my frightening foe.
Sitting alone, alone in the dark,
Somehow I know I’m not alone-
That your soul’s with me, standing by my side,
Reminding me the storm’s a show and that I should not hide.

This is very well executed and....holy cow that rhyming tho! I don't ever rhyme in my pieces; I have tried before, and the result is always disastrous! Anyway, nicely done and welcome to YWP!
